Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

GermanyDespite detailed instructions, we were unable to get the stove working. Fortunately, there are numerous good takeaways nearby (we particularly recommend the Indian, Lebanese and Japanese ones).
The house is truly a 'little gem': we felt very comfortable there. Beautiful bedrooms. Mumbles is a great place and highly recommended. The breakfast basket with local specialities was wonderful. Parking is available on the side streets right next to the house. Communication was very friendly and helpful.

United KingdomThere were issues with the shower when we were there but the host was very responsive and handled this very well.
The Fishermans cottage is such a lovely and cosy place! Great location as well, just a few steps away from the hub of the Mumbles. We really enjoyed our stay there.

United KingdomRoadworks preventing access to the house and a 5 mile detour. We did not receive and pre warning about the roadworks, so had to discover through trial and error a detour.
Breakfast was good, a varied selection. More than expected.

United KingdomThe open staircase was a little difficult for me because of my age (it would also perhaps be a problem for small children).
The cottage was lovely. It was very well furnished and the bed was really comfortable. The breakfast hamper was excellent

United KingdomShower was poor with a broken thermostat. No dustpan and brush nor functional vacuum cleaner. It would have been useful to be told the road was inaccessible from the village near the beach.
Cosy cottage and comfy bed, everything you need for a relaxing break away. Loved the wood burning fire... Heating is easy to use, and a combination boiler ensures hot water on tap.

United KingdomAs others have noted, the stairs are really very steep - not recommended for small children or the elderly. This would be a particular concern for bathroom visits during the night, as the bathroom is located downstairs.
Location is great - very short walk down to the sea and into Mumbles. It’s up a hill, but that’s one of the things that makes Mumbles so picturesque! The cottage is small but very comfortable, and the breakfast pack is a very nice touch. Kitchen is well equipped and the place was very clean. We were able to find parking nearby without problems (even though the road - resident permit parking only - was being dug up and actually largely closed when we visited).

United KingdomVery limited hot water in the shower, other than that amazing!
The property was stunning throughout, with a cozy feel but we can also imagine with the decor it’d be an amazing place to stay in summer. The beds were exceptionally comfortable, with comfy and cozy living and dining areas. The breakfast hamper was a lovely touch. The property was in close proximity to shops and restaurants. Lovely hosts and great value for money!

United KingdomDidn't realise the bathroom was downstairs (booked last minute and didn't read the information properly!). This probably would have put me off so I'm glad I didn't read it as we would have missed out on a lovely 2 night stay. The hill to town is very steep so not really suitable for anyone who isn't reasonably fit to walk back to the property!
Very quaint little cottage in a good location close to Mumbles centre. Loved the decor and the welcome pack was probably the best we've received! Beds were very comfortable and we slept well. Log burner made the sitting room really cosy. Had everything we needed for a 2 night stay.

United KingdomMy wife and I enjoyed a wonderful 4 night stay at Thistleboon Cottage in the Mumbles. It was very comfortable and clean with all of the amenities you would require and parking close by. The Mumbles is a lovely spot, and from Thistleboon you can walk easily to the main restaurants, shops, supermarkets etc. You can also walk via the Mumbles Hill Nature Reserve to Bracelet Bay and for a meal at ROK, which I recommend. From Bracelet Bay you can follow the coastal path to Langland Bay and Caswell Bay which is a fantastic walk. The Mumbles is also a great base for exploring the Gower Peninsula, and I recommend a trip to Rhossili Bay Beach, with the Worms Head nearby, as well as a trip to Three Cliffs Bay and Oxwich Bay. For a special treat, book for lunch or dinner at the Beach House on Oxwich Bay, it is superb.

United KingdomA lovely, cosy cottage in an excellent location. All of the amenities in Mumbles are close-by & it is a great base to explore the Gower Peninsula. The cottage was well equipped - a home away from home. The owner was extremely helpful & accommodated our revised arrival time. We would definitely return!

United KingdomSteep stairs in the cottage, anyone with mobility issues may struggle with them.
Great host, with good communication, wanted to make sure all was well during our stay. The bed was really comfy, and cottage is tastefully decorated. Only 5 mins walk into down, but a little longer on the way back due to the steep hill. Perfect location for exploring the Gower beaches, only a short walk to the coastal clifftop path.

United KingdomLovely setting, easy parking just up the road. Beautifully decorated little cottage with 2 big bedrooms. Booked to celebrate our engagement and despite only really mentioning this is a short message a couple of days prior to arrival the hosts organised some roses and fizz for us which was so kind and thoughtful. Very impressed with our stay and plan to come back soon as it is well located and very comfortable. Log fire was lovely and full of lovely touches and character.
