Dirty, not enough beds, smell of urine and damp
    • Leisure trip
    • Family with young children
    • One-Bedroom Apartment
    • Stayed 3 nights
    • Submitted from a mobile device

Booking was for 4 guests, a couple and two children, the property provided two single beds and a sofa bed with no mattress, it took half hour to free the rusted frame from the sofa, to then discover dirt and food and no mattress, we had to go out and purchase an air bed and pump to sleep on as it was late. The bedroom floor had what looked like urine marks (not stains) on the flooring, and it was very sticky to walk on. Bedding was dirty, with hair and leaves and smelt mouldy, the property had a strong smell of urine and it clearly had not been swept/hoovered/mopped recently The kids 5 and 13 slept fully clothed because they didn’t want to use the bedding as it smelt so musky/damp. When we contacted the provider they said ‘it’s bank holiday weekend, we are busy, and we normally only have a couple and one child not 2 children, we didn’t know the sofa bed didn’t have a mattress, we couldn’t help that’ They did move us to an alternative property that was slightly better that had a double bed a pull out foam chair and a small sofa, so still not enough to sleep 4 (thankfully we had the airbed still) but it did however smell better but clearly didn’t have fresh bedding, but instead what looked like someone’s personal bedding.

Very outdated decor and furnishings, bedding smelt of animal urine, flooring in the living area had a hole which they tried covering up by gluing down a rug. There wasn't really anywhere to hang up your clothing or store clothes at all.

Lovely location and the gentleman who met us to welcome us into the property we were staying is was lovely too. The bathroom was the best part of the property we stayed in.

Photos shows Chalet 101 is a Building Site, Cannot stay there - WARNING
    • Leisure trip
    • Family with young children
    • One-Bedroom Apartment
    • Stayed 2 nights

MAJOR WARNING - PLEASE READ as we do not want anyone to go through what we had to endure. A long list: Concerned at what I read, around a day before driving there, I messaged Host via Booking.com Messenging, Host Ignored. Contacted Booking.com, they said they would message Host, to go there the following day anyway, if an issue, call them. SMS Text Messaged the Host in the afternoon, on the day we were going to be there, to say estimated arrival time of 5.45pm to 6pm (we arrived at 5.55pm in the end on-site). Host asked for names of people staying 'today', if any dogs and Car Registration Number for the Free Parking. No reply of any issues, but just asked other things. We were unsure if the Host was meeting us at Chalet 101, or just providing a Key Safe code, as one photo shows a Key Safe outside. We asked, and updated the Host when just about arriving on-site, then no replies. We find Chalet 101, no one was there to greet us or take us elsewhere. Very worringly, the building was empty, nothing inside, except a few building materials, no walls, no nothing (SEE PHOTOS). Totally not able to be stayed in. As lots of Chalets on-site, we wondered if more than one number 101 with differing road names, but nothing, all seemed to have individual numbers. Therefore, this being Chalet 101, the Text Messages ignored, tried to phone the Host, just got Voicemail. Tried again, left a Voicemail, still no call-back, then tried again, got through. The Host says that they had us in the diary for 30 September, a month later, she had another place, but that was booked 3 months before, so she could not accomodate us, would give us a credit note. We had to find somewhere else at last minute, nothing in Dartmouth, we had to travel via ferry to Paignton. Booking.com tried to resolve, Host says we were late (which we weren't) and ignored the place was a Building Site, so be aware: WARNING no Chalet 101 is inhabitable, so should not be advertised to book!

Did not like anything, as impossible to stay in a property that was empty and still a building site! Booked a month in advance for 30 August to 1 September 2024. Asked for Late Check In and Check Out. Host phoned me atn the end of July, confirmed that was ok, just pay a bit extra, to message her on the day to confirm an arrival time. So, I thought a good start. Looking forward to the stay. (NOTE: Host said she wanted £8 more even if during the times shown to cover electric, that really should be somewhere on the listing (or built in the price). I accepted that anyway, as I thought it looked ok in the photos and they were accomodating about times). Nice Views, and Free Parking was good, if only the Chalet had been inhabitable, and not just a gutted shell of a property (I gather inside flooded out a few weeks before, Roof had been replaced recently, but should not be advertised to rent out until all works completed).

Were supposed stay 2nights,Everything, place smelt of mould, sorry to say we didnt even stay we left as soon as got there after 5hour drive it was around 7pm and we just wanted dinner and somewhere else so we then had wasted 140 pound on this property had pay another 200 for somewhere else and another hour travel luckily they took us in with hour booked not even confirmed but took us in. Drop anchor different pictures on booking.com...facilities weren't there that was shown for example oven there wasn't but was in picture.also the rooms on website wasnt one we walked into.the place was definitely lived in by owner left cleanish bedding in bedroom but to sort ourselves as the bed was slept in with dirty well used flat pillows,no toliet roll.very old decor with alot cobwebs and dust everywhere.lightshades broken also doesn't say on advert that u have to take 8pound coins for electric, she messaged me privately after saying that even though she wasn't to meet me but a nice man who then said 1 pound lasts long so she obviously gets her guests pay her electric 2 as said 8pound coins I needed...also the nice gentleman who I had to help into the chalet as had very bad arthritis,I asked him if the woman lived on site his answer was oh yes in ur chalet but when guests she stays in my chalet in my bed and I sleep on recliner chair...never ever have I had such a disgusting place all time I've booked with booking.com

Very dirty, very old, terrible smell of dump, so we've had to wash everything after coming back. The shower was flooding, so we've had to use provided towels to wipe it off . We've booked 2 nights but stayed only one because it was so dirty and smelly. Would NOT go there again, even for free!!!

Nothing, it was very dirty, and I've had to sleep on a dump sponge on the floor.

In 30 years of staying in a wide variety of hotels/apartment's or chalet’s. This was hands down the worst. The chalet was so dirty and small, definitely not fit for 4 peolple we have cut our stay short! I have never left a negative review untill now! Avoid
