Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomStaff were young and inattentive on mobiles not paying attention and require training. This is a charming inn but it’s trying to be posh eatery and the food was over spiced and the breakfast cold 🥶 yet tasty far too much chilli on the avocado 🥑 for breakfast. Chef and cook should try the food before they serve it.
Charming place, room was lovely, beer was excellent.

United KingdomAs with many places now, you do have to request for your room to be made up if you are staying for more than 1 night. This is a bugbear of mine, as, to me, a hotel is a place where you go to be relaxed, and I don't want to be coming back in the evening to my unmade bed. Others think differently, I know.
In a lovely location, this inn offers good facilities for dining and staying, and the staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. The food menu is a little limited, but there is enough there to satisfy most tastes, and when we went slightly piste they were very accommodating. Breakfast was great, and very tasty. The room are clean and well-equipped although one of our group's room was right over the AC unit which was very noisy, and he had to be moved for the second night. The thing that stood out for me was the effort the staff made to make our stay as enjoyable as possible.

United KingdomIt was expensive to stay 2 nights bed and breakfast. . Approx £250. The room was nice but not carpeted, so cold when getting up during the night. For a 'full English' breakfast, we had to pay £4 extra ppl. My (sipposed to be normal breakfast) was 1 sausage, 2 pieces streaky bacon, half a tomato, 1 mushroom, 1 fried egg, 1 slice of toast. No hssh brown. No beans. We weren't offered more tea or coffee. We waited over 35 minutes for our breakfast and there weren't many people in when we were there. The outdoor 'pods' were littered with pieces of paper/rubbish. Empty glasses left on tables f an hour or 2. Someone came with a torch to clear tables as it was dark.
Parking was free. Restaurant was lovely. Outside seating areas including 'pods' were lovely with nght lights. They gave us little flasks of milk and oatmilk for our rooms on arrival . We had a small percolator and illey percolated coffee and a kettle in our room. On the second morning's breakfast i asked for a Croissant which was freshly baked which was lovely (waited 35 minutes for it, had to ask for butter, wasn't offered jam/marmalade even though another customer was .)

United StatesBreakfast / pub area a bit understaffed and overwhelmed, and it shows. Our table for instance had been reset, but not cleaned properly, thus very sticky.
Good hotel, good location. Nice rooms & accommodating staff.

United KingdomThe double bed was beautifully comfortable but difficult to get out of bed as it was against a wall, so only really appropriate for 1 person unless you are very agile. Also the laundry van arrived outside our window at 8 am & was noisy for half an hour. Disturbing the peace we came for sadly …
Friendliest of the staff, relaxing atmosphere, acceptance of my dogs (no extra charge), able to open the window in the room, wonderful breakfast, a real nice vibe. Great little walk round via the lake instead of the road. The hotel should advertise this walk that takes you to the cricket ground & coffee stop.

United KingdomThe building was a little tired and in need of tlc in some places.
An old rustic building with character, excellent friendly service, fabulous comfortable bed, breakfast was delicious and plentiful. I would stay here again when visiting Highclere Castle for events - only 15 minutes away.

United KingdomWe would have loved to have eaten in the pub as the food sounded lovely, but we found it a little expensive. So opted to drive to Andover and find something a little more to budget.

United KingdomDespite receiving confirmation, on check-in we were told our requested room was not available. Subsequently found out it was given to an agency chef. Discovered we were overcharged for drinks when we checked our itemised bill after paying, but this was quickly rectified once we brought it to management's attention.
The inn is in a lovely location, on the edge of a picturesque village. The dinner was nice and reasonably priced. Room was pretty small and cramped, but fine for 1 night. It's a dog friendly hotel and the walls and floors in the room are very thin, so we could hear dogs barking and the people above us snoring during the night.
