Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomI can't think of anything at all.
Rupert was able to accommodate us at short notice when adverse weather conditions caused ferry cancellations and ruined our plans for the last part of our trip to the Hebrides. He was a most gracious host, full of local knowledge and helped us when there were even more ferry disruptions! We loved the cosy, spotless rooms, the picture window in the comfortable lounge overlooking Mount Kenneth, the delicious breakfasts, the library (especially the nature field guides) and the peace and quiet. The beds were exceptionally comfortable and the whole place just made us feel warm and cosy while the weather was blowing a hooley outside!

United KingdomVery comfortable and clean room with good appliances, lighting, heater etc. The breakfast was really good, and the dining room and lounge are very comfortable spaces. Rupert is a very attentive host and very knowledgeable of the Outer Hebrides. He was happy to chat away and recommend the best places for certain activities. I also had issues with multiple ferry cancellations due to adverse weather, but Rupert was extremely helpful as he receives all the updates and could recommend the best course of action for getting on my way. Having already been delayed a day for departing, his advice allowed me to get home that day rather than waiting until the following day for the rebooked ferry which had been cancelled twice.

CanadaCaledonian MacBrayne changed our ferry times and routes which none of us could control.
Excellent host, a wealth of information about the local birds, places to go, where to swim, etc. He wrote the guide book. Bedrooms are quiet, lots of hot water. Good choices for breakfast incorporating local ingredients. Beautiful view from the guest lounge.

United KingdomI do like fresh fruit for breakfast but I realise that this may be difficult on the island due to ferry disruption and the distance fresh produce must travel!
A very friendly, helpful, informed host, who answers any queries promptly. He pro-actively informed me of ferry timetable changes, and is very knowledgable indeed about the wildlife of the islands. A good selection of breakfast choices is provided, and the accommodation is very clean, spacious, well appointed and the bed comfortable. His guidance on the evening menus for local restaurants much appreciated. Thank you Rupert for adding to a wonderful Hebridean experience.

United StatesA true gem. I’ve cycled the world for eight years and have stayed in well over 1000 places around the world. Kudos to Rupert for hitting every note! A warm greeting. A nice chat with him and another guest. He’s an academic birder and an interesting man. He happily accommodated my touring steed, then showed me about his lovely browsing library full of Hebridean history and tales and language and lore. Recommended a book that I read—a very interesting read. His common area is beautiful—stylish and full of views and more local lore. My room was super clean and super comfortable—again, like the common area, stylish and well appointed. Tranquil and quiet. A good breakfast and I was off to pedal, happily having enjoyed this lovely gem. Stay here. You will be glad you did. Many thanks. Tailwinds be with you. Michael Himes
