Flashing light for the fire sensor in the eyeline when in bed. It would have been less distracting on the corridor between the door and the main room.

Delicious cooked breakfast. Choice of cereals, fruit juices, croissants, toast, yoghurt, teas ( no peppermint, though).

It was quite warm in the rooms and i would choose another breakfast time than 9pm next time. The breakfast staff was a bit overwhelmed when every guest showed up at the same time.

Very nice building and staff, good beds, nice place. I particularly liked the bar area, which felt like a cozy living room.

The dining room/communal rooms are a bit dated and lacking in atmosphere although I'm not sure the best way to tackle this. Carpets in the dog friendly rooms ... Maybe have been better lino or something easily cleaned.

The staff were all super attentive and lovely. They made a real fuss over my dog and made my mum and I feel very welcome during our stay. Our room had a door straight out onto the grounds which helped with letting our dog out for the toilet. The staff organised a table so that our dog could dine with us for both breakfast and dinner. Dinner was delicious and the porridge at breakfast was lovely. The grounds are lovely! Little touches such as the jar of sweets.

The bar was not open usually and even if it was, there was no one to serve us. You could ring a bell but no one came so we went for a drink to the town. I think if there was always someone at the bar it would be beneficial for both the hotel and the guests, especially on a rainy day when you need to spend some time indoors. Also, we were not funs of the bed with separate matteraces, it decreases the comfort of the sleep but again it was not a major issue and we really enjoyed the whole stay.

Convenient location close to shops restaurants and point of interest, the room was a good size with all you needed included, very clean hotel overall as well, refurbished bathroom with great water pressure. As we were had a dog with us I loved the fact that we had an extra door outside directly to the garden so going out for toilet with the dog was super easy. Nice view from the room and lovely gardens around the hotel. Good quality and fresh breakfast. Good parking with fair amount of spaces around. Friendly staff.

An excellent hotel from which to explore the eastern lakes.

Although close to both Windermere and Ambleside, we avoided the footpath along the busy road and used the car. An alternative would’ve been to use the frequent bus service.

The hotel is set back from the busy Windermere to Ambleside Road and is quiet and has a “happy” feel about it. Its position made it ideal as a base to explore the local lakes. The staff were friendly, helpful and attentive with good service in the restaurant and bar. Breakfast was excellent with the food being cooked to order. Evening meals - good choice and were excellent. Best book a table. Room was clean and comfortable and with a bath in the en-suite. It was a “house room” and adjacent foliage made it a bit dark. This was fine for us but “garden view” or “superior” rooms are probably lighter. Lovely well tended gardens to walk round. Plenty of parking.

The hotel is located in a fairly isolated location and therefore a short drive or taxi ride into Ambleside

The one night stay was excellent. The rooms having recently been refurbished are very clean and comfortable and were more than adequate for our requirements. There is a small bar in the hotel that closes at 11pm and the breakfast served from 8am to 10am was excellent with plenty of variety.

That we could have stayed longer . Staff were very good .

Absolutely wonderful room - I had a garden room which was exceptional in all facilities and could view the open area and the stars -also a surprised added bonus of seeing tiny bats from nearby trees swooping in to find food was almost a Attenborough film clip - and so to bed which was so comfortable I didnt want to get up .
