Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomAll was great.
We had another wonderful stay at BriValley View Lodge. As always BriValley is super clean, fully equipped with everything you need and is homely and comfortable. A great place to stay, peaceful location offering lovely forest walks and a great base to explore Devon beaches and surrounding areas. The host is lovely and communication always spot on, the lodge is looked after to a high standard. Highly recommended. We will be returning again :)

United KingdomThere wasn't anything not to like about the booking, property or holiday. We did find lots of 'road closed' signs on the way down and google maps were useless. We'd brought 2 cars and unfortunately my son lost his exhaust and needed his car recovered from a very small, bumpy lane. From a 'glass half full' perspective we did discover the locals in the area were very kind and helpful in rescuing us and the luggage !
Really great views from the balcony. Lovely decor, very clean, bright and spacious. The big kitchen and table was a great spot to sit round, play family games and find the fun again after a tough year. Close enough to the coast for a scenic drive to Westward Ho! and Appledore for cream teas and crazy golf. Surrounded by an almost magical forest we relaxed, recharged and belly laughed. The pool was fun too. Would love to return.

Everything! Amazing view; beautiful lodge - well maintained to a very high standard and well equipped. The balcony was fantastic but on rainy days you’d be as happy sitting in the lively lounge area. Mandi was great to deal with and made our stay easy and relaxed.

SpainWe were travelling with our Grandson and although there was a dog bed for visiting dogs, access to a travel cot for children would have been useful
The lodge was very well equiped with averything that anyone could need. It was well maintained, cosy and comfortable. The veiws from the lounge were spectacular when the rain stopped Dealing with the hosts was very easy and all questions were answered quickly before our visit, they went above and beyond to help in any way

United KingdomWhat can I say, we knew before we got there that it was off the beaten track but even off road it was more than acceptable.
The location was off the beaten track which meant we had the most awesome views from the balcony and the entrance. This set the mood for the whole holiday. We kept saying where's the camera I must take a picture. We visited places in the area and the local pub had good meals. The accommodation was more than big enough for a family of four and if you decided to use the sofa bed it would still be huge enough to accommodate the extra person. The facilities were clean and well maintained. We didn't plan on doing much cooking but if we wanted to there was more than enough pots and pans.

United KingdomThe only downside is that you need a car to travel as it’s in a quiet location with no shops, bars within walking distance. We were fully aware of this before we booked so no problems.
The property was lovely and clean and in a very, very quiet location. We wanted a quiet location to use as a base away from the hustle and bustle.

United KingdomThe only downside was how far it was from any shopping facilities, but we knew that when we booked it. It is quite remote.
The property was beautiful, well looked after and had an incredible view from the balcony. The swimming pool was a big hit with the children and the showers were really good!

United Kingdom1st 3 nights the en-suite bathroom had a very nasty smell(possibly shower drain) to which we had to buy some cleaning product to try and eliminate the smell so we could comfortably sleep. Some of the fixtures ( i.e curtain tie back hooks, kitchen blind tie) are loose in the wall. could have done with a smaller saucepan
Lovely setting looking over the valley. spacious rooms (kids loved the large lounge area)

United KingdomTumble dryer was unavailable and we had wet weather, the furniture around the pool area is need of renewing. The cleaning instructions were a little OTT, cleaning an oven is not an expectation I would expect.
Lovely house, great facilities. Local pubs very friendly but busy so try and book ahead if you can. Barnstaple is a nice town and is about 30 mins drive and westward ho about 40 mins.
