Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

The Lodge was very comfortable, with everything we needed for our stay, and had quality furnishings throughout. It is situated in a lovely area, which is easy to travel from to many interesting local towns, sites and events.

United KingdomA couple of things to bear in mind when booking. The bed is in the eves of the roof, so to access one side involved crouching. If both people were tall, that could be a slight problem. However, the bedroom was very spacious otherwise. The upstairs bedroom is open to the downstairs kitchen/lounge (ie no door between them). If you have one person who gets up early / is noisy, and another that likes to sleep, it may not be a good property for you. However, neither of those things can be changed, and weren't an issue for us, but may impact others.
I was given clear instructions to knock on the main house door and the host greeted me and let me know what I needed to know.

United KingdomIt's not that I didn't like it, but a TV in the bedroom would be nice. However, this is absolutely NOT a critisism as not everyone likes a TV in the bedroom.
What a gorgeous place this was! absolutely everything that you would ever need in the house and exceptionally clean and tidy. Super comfy bed with really really good pillows and duvet! Had a wonderful stay, wish we'd spent more time in the house rather than out and about!

New ZealandIt was all perfect.
We had five nights at Cotswold Lodge over Christmas. The cottage is gorgeous - stylishly decorated and with everything we needed for our stay. Hannah and David provided milk, orange juice, tea, coffee, and fruit, as well as a fantastic Christmas welcome pack of Prosecco, mince pies, biscuits and even Christmas crackers which made us feel not so far from home at such a special time of year. The kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans and the utensils you might need for the preparation of meals. Hannah's attention to detail and the care she puts into her cottage is clear to see. Additionally, Painswick is such a beautiful village - the Queen of the Cotswolds - which we hadn't quite appreciated before our stay. The village has a few shops and cafes, pubs and restaurants. Our Christmas lunch at The Falcon Inn was impressive! We wouldn't hesitate to stay in Painswick again and Cotswold Lodge would be our accommodation of choice. Thanks very much to Hannah and David.

United StatesIt was downhill from the nearest bus stop and after 10 days of hiking I am not a fan of downhill. However, for a normal person it isn’t at all steep.
It was very high spec and spacious. Kitchen counter appliances were all IKEA and him in a lovely mint green colour. I really appreciate the walk-in shower and the heated towel rack. The duvet was so puffyand sleeping with the skylights open meant that I was very toasty warm.

Lovely spacious open plan one bedroomed two storey lodge with sofa bed downstairs with it’s own drive, garden and outside seating area. The pretty village of Painswick which has a well stocked village shop and several pubs and restaurants and lots of choice for eating out in nearby villages too. Good communication from very pleasant owners, Hannah and David next door and they were kind enough to leave some provisions for our arrival, along with a very useful folder of information about local places of interest, contacts etc . Everything was very clean and modern, lovely walk in shower, the linen freshly laundered and the bed was comfortable. We had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. We would definitely recommend this lovely Lodge to others. Thanks again Hannah & David!
