the only thing that was a bit of a problem was in the kitchen there was no where to put stuff that you bring with you ( if you are staying for 5 days ) no micowave and knifes not sharp, and could do with some small pans.

had pub across the road,a great fish and chip shop up the road, and food shop down the road a bit,so very handy having them so close,Gilwern is a very pretty place.

Just as described, small but it had everything we needed. Bed was very comfortable. Front door opens on to main road, so be careful with dogs. Short walk to pubs / restaurant and the lovely canal waterway. We were very happy with the place.

First and foremost it's right next the main road that runs through the town, it's a little unnerving getting in and out of the property with the dog, and I'd guess even worse so with small children. Bare that in mind. Also due to the road it can be quite noisy from the road at night, we foolishly opened the window in the bedroom as it was way too warm but soon closed it due to the noise. Not really something that can be helped, but something to keep in mind. As a side note to the property owner, the shower is leaking through the kitchen ever so slightly. That may be a bigger issue in the future if its not checked. Don't want to sound too negative, I really enjoyed the stay, but sleep could have been slightly better.

Nice and clean. Very easy to access many local and less local attractions. Pet friendly. Right across the road from a very nice pub that does good food.

Had to sleep with the window open as the bedroom got very hot (was not a hot weekend either), but that’s very very nitpicky - we had a lovely stay.

The bed was really comfy, the house was well equipped and tidy, the location and convenience were great.

The staircase is of necessity narrow and steep and may be tricky for anyone with mobility problems.

Beautifully renovated tiny cottage has been turned into a smart and comfortable residence. The location is ideal for anyone touring the area or walking in the Black Mountains. The space has been well planned so you have good cooking facilities, a large screen TV and a full size bathroom with brilliant shower.

Minor point: I could only access channels such as Netflix on the TV. Couldn't manage to watch BBC. Probably a case of my error.

Cottage was comfortable and well equipped. Very nice bathroom. Comfortable double bed. Access was easy and parking was very convenient. Convenience store nearby was useful for basics. Had all that we needed. Very suitable for a short stay.

The small kitchen could have benefitted with a microwave and/or maybe some staple cooking ingredients like oil and salt/pepper.

Ideal for what we needed for a short getaway.

Look there is absolutely nothing wrong with the property. No really if you read other reviews I have posted you will see I am not afraid to mention things. This time I really have nothing to say here.

The property is exactly as you see in the photos and was absolutely spotless when we arrived. The kitchen although compact had everything you needed including a wireless phone charger - which was pretty handy. The living room was well kitted out and wifi reception was good throughout the property. The bedroom was a reasonable size with a comfy bed. The bathroom was a good size and the shower was very good. The property is located in the centre of a really friendly village, there is a good pub across the road, and a decent shop a couple of doors down.

TV was a bit hit and miss with reception and the back yard was so neat my dog refused to go to the loo there!

Great location in the heart of the village, 5 mins from canal walks and 3 mins to pubs and fish and chips. Access to lots of interesting sites to visit, cottage very comfortable and loads of thoughtful touches.

The only flaw to a perfect little retreat would be that there was no salt, pepper nor oil or vinegar in an otherwise fully equipped kitchen. Very small detail, but if you like to cook during your stay, it goes a long way to have a pinch of salt and a drizzle of oil you don't have to carry in your suitcase.

Staying here was absolutely the right choice for us. Comfortable, homey and super cosy for a rainy weekend in Wales! The bed gave us the most unreal night of rest after a very intense day of hiking. The kitchen had all the utensils needed for homecooked breakfast and the place was spotless.
