Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomThere was nothing nearby, you had to drive to get to shops or somewhere to eat or a coffee shop. The table in the kitchen was a bit cosy for 3, one person was very tall and one less mobile Stairs are quite steep so need to be mindful if with young kids os someone who may struggle greeting up them. The bathroom does feel a bit exposed to the rest of the house, so may not feel 100% private
It had everything we needed and was informed a great location to get to other places. Comms from the owner was clear and quick. Was clean and felt pleasant and comfortable. Was a bit quirky but in a good sense Would definitely recommend

United KingdomShower was quite temperamental and can get very hotl, but worked out that on Eco mode it was fine.
Great little place to stay near to forest of dean. Had everything we needed and nice touch like tea/coffee, packet of biscuits and some milk in the fridge. You do need to jump in the car to go to Cinderford (few miles away) for anything (tesco, lidl, pubs, takeaways) as not a lot in Ruardean.

United KingdomCottage is cosy, comfortable and well equipped. The location was great for attending pottery course at Ruardean Garden Pottery, which is a five minute walk. Ruardean is very quiet - you need to drive to neighbouring towns and villages to find shops or pub.

United KingdomCute garden just needed to be a little neater with its outdoor bits and bobs and the grass was too long. Think an update on the sofa maybe required .. this item was the only item that was not enjoyed during our stay.
Great location and the cottage had everything you needed for an enjoyable stay.

United KingdomThe location was a little disappointing; no local pub and generally short of amenities; you need a car to get about for sightseeing, shopping and eating/drinking. That said the village of Ruardean is well placed for accessing a wide range of activities within the Forest of Dean.
Lovely well-equipped cottage with a homely feel and lovely decor. The introduction pack supplied by the host covered all the necessary information which was so useful. Very clean and lots of toiletries and other sundries was a welcome bonus. We found nothing to dislike in relation to the accommodation which was economically priced.

United KingdomOnly two issues were really encountered. The first was that the freezer box in the fridge was full of ice and to fit in the frozen items I had brought with me I had to defrost the freezer. I managed to remove enough ice to fit my frozen food in however the freezer would benefit a defrost. The second minor issue was the cutlery. There was lots of spoons but not enough forks. This was fine for myself and my daughter however could cause issues for any more folk.
The location of the cottage relative to the Forest of Dean and the wye valley was excellent. The house was very comfortable and clean and the toilet seat with the integrated child seat was an excellent touch that my 3 year old loved.

United KingdomThe second bedroom is definitely a kids room with a small single bed but that was fine for us! 3 adults (1 couple, and grown up daughter)
The cottage is a true home from home and has everything to make the stay comfortable and snug. The kitchen is well equipped and the decore is lovely throughout. There are maps and info for things to do in the area. The cottage is easy to find and parking isn't an issue - there's plenty just around the corner. The garden is a little sun trap in the morning, perfect for breakfast outside at the patio table and the sofas, beds etc all very comfortable.
