Located in precise city center - excellent place! All facilities are nearby. The sleeping places are large have curtains and personal lamps. You don't need to preorder breakfast - you could easily order it in the morning. Highly recommend it.

Pods felt very cramped and uncomfortable

Next time I'm coming to Edinburgh I'm definitely staying here again. The staff is so friendly, the rooms and pods are great and the whole concept is good. Instead of keys or cards you just get a code that works for the makn doors and you own room so you can't lose it. The food is good!the breakfasts and the meals for the rest of the day. Can and last everything is always clean.

No kitchen

Well located hostel in the very centre of the old town. The staff was friendly and the dorm room pods were private and comfortable enough. Were able to explore the old town very early in the morning for some quite nice photos.

The soundproofing could use some work, as there was sometimes music playing quite late into the night, but it's understandable being an old building and in the very centre of town. Showers could be designed better, as there isn't really much space to keep your clothes from getting wet or changing clothes.

The showers and toilets were mostly clean. The location was super central, right in the heart of Edinburgh, and the people from the hostel were friendly and helpful. The noise wasn't too bad, but I guess it depends on who you're rooming with.

Unfortunately, there was no dedicated kitchen space available for personal food preparation, and the only communal area seemed to be the restaurant located at the entrance.

Love the old building, history and location.

I have stayed here multiple times over the years. Great hostel experience. Has changed. Kitchen, dining area, refrigerator for your food is gone along with lobby relaxing/gathering area. Now is large coffee/drinks bar and restaurant to buy food. If you buy food to bring back there is nowhere to sit except outside. Feels more like a budget hotel, my perspective. I miss the ability to have my own choice of food, make tea/coffee and to relax. Staff is very friendly and helpful and it’s clean.

Amazing location, great staff, comfortable bed, clean facilities. Enjoyed the free activities and loved all the gluten free options since I have a gluten intolerance. Would recommend to anyone and I will be back.

A little expensive but everything else makes it worth it

Issues I had issues with my locker 3x during my very short 1-night stay! The first time, I put my backpack into an open locker in the room (as I was told would be ok) and came back to find that the lady checking into the pod corresponding to that locker had gotten reception to take it out. (Which is fine, but I was explicitly told any open locker was fine and by the way the lady in the pod below me also took a locker not corresponding to hers). Second time, the locker that was corresponding to my locker was unable to be opened although I had literally just used it so I needed to go back up to reception and get someone to help me. Third time, after dinner (and the memories of those first two incidents gone) I came back and it was not working AGAIN. This time I was already changed into pyjamas and the only way to get to reception was to go upstairs in my PJs, in a crowded room (there was live music going on) and proceed to wait in a busy check-in line just to get the locker reset. The first two times, yes maybe it happens - the third was unacceptable and cemented the poor stay for me. Management need to find a way for guests to more easily access them if there's an issue, as there's no phone or messaging app to reach them from the rooms. Can you just open a WhatsApp channel? Also why is the only reception option at the bar? Lastly maybe don't insist that the locker is assigned to the pod when I was told something else at check-in and other guests were doing the same thing... Comments The pod itself was well-thought out with the lighting, hooks, shelf, rack, etc. When I first unrolled the blanket, there were two short brown curly hairs in two different areas (I have medium length black hair...) I liked the privacy curtain except it got stuffy during the night. The mattress was very thin which was fine but maybe given an option to double mattress? I don't understand the ladder placement at all. Awkward each time getting in/out of pod.

If you are a light sleeper is easy to wake up when someone comes in the room.
