Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsNothing, we really had a good stay. Perhaps only a bigger frying pan for the families who have to cook for 5 people 😉 And a measure cup or scale in the kitchen. The weather is not always so perfect, so sometimes it is best to stay in for a few hours. Then it is lovely to do some baking in a cottage like this, especially with the kids (the kitchen is perfect for it with all the space and ovens 😀 ).
Beautiful, cosy cottage with everything you need. Plenty of space, nice bedrooms, good kitchen. And we were surprised by the lovely basket with welcome supplies. A stunning surrounding with Llyn Tegid (Bala Lake) and mountains in front of the house. A really good place to start and discover Snowdonia, North Wales.

United KingdomA couple of details needed a refresh/update, the property smelt of cigarette smoke upon entering, the front door lock needed adjustment and was very difficult to unlock/lock for fear of snapping the key off and the bolt put into the shower controls as a handle was a little rough compared to the rest of the property which was delightful.
Lovely location, very convenient for all the wonderful things in the local area. The set up was perfect for my daughter and I, comfy beds in both rooms and a nice area to chill out downstairs. The Welsh cakes and milk were a lovely touch, my daughter adored the Welsh cakes, I barely got a look in ☺️ We will definitely stay here again as we now have the bug for the area and this property helped with that greatly.

United KingdomIf heavily pressed for an answer on this, having to go through one of the small bedrooms that doesn't have a window to enter the other small bedroom wasn't ideal. Bathroom lighting was considerably dim. But overall, these did not bother us, and we really enjoyed the stay
The place was very warm, cosy and clean, good speed Internet, well equipped kitchen with everything that one would need including nice big fridge with water dispenser etc, downstairs space was great. The main bedroom was of nice size and all the beds were comfortable. The host was very helpful in providing directions, and access to property was easy with good parking right in front. The location is excellent for a quiet base point to explore snowdonia. Not far from local Lake and little town. Gorgeous location. Would be happy to use this place again, and I definitely highly recommend staying here

United KingdomNothing, it was perfect.
The cottage was definitely a home from home, loved all the nice little, homely touches, had an amazing log fire, and was in a perfect location to get out and about. A great host too, very helpful when enquiring about things to do in the area, i couldn't ask for more, and I would definitely book again

United KingdomA few little things. No welcome pack so I wasn't sure if I was to strip the beds or put the waste out... Loose toilet seat (moved as you sat on it) just a nut missing. No banister so not much to hold on to going up/down the stairs. Kitchen bin lid stuck open - got a bit smelly! Gutter missing above the front door - not really a problem except it rained heavily the whole time we where there which caused a stream of water right outside the front door - got a soaking each time we used it :(
Cottage is in a quiet location, set approx 100yds off the road, nice views from the front and parking right outside. Seating area to the front. Cosy lounge and a fabulous reclining settee. Good size dinning kitchen and plenty of pots & pans etc. Large fridge/freezer and a good oven/grill and hob. Host had put milk in the fridge and left some welsh cakes. Bedrooms clean, comfortable and well furnished, towels and bedding included - we slept really well. The main bedroom (double) was lovely plenty of storage and a tv should you need it. The smaller two rooms I think were originally one as you passed through one to get to the other. The single room does not have a window but it didn't bother my granddaughter, she loved it. The other room has bunk beds and both rooms are nicely done. Good bathroom, lots of hot water and a nice big bath. Didn't use the shower as my grandchildren loved the bath but that looked good too. Loved the fireplace (wood burner) and all the exposed stone and the wood beams. Theres a little laundry/boiler room under the stairs with a washing machine and towel radiator. Bala high street is about three or four miles along the main road. All in all we enjoyed our stay and would go back again :)

United KingdomThe TV is positioned quite high up on the wall which took a bit of getting used to.
The photos don’t do this lovely cottage justice! They make it appear smaller than it is, it’s actually quite roomy with tall ceilings. It is well equipped, the bed is huge and very comfortable, and the wood burner makes for a cosy atmosphere.

United KingdomProperty could do with a name tag or number, so you know which one it is. BT Wi-Fi service was a little poor. Smaller beds a little uncomfortable & could benefit from better mattresses.
Quiet and cosy little cottage within reasonably close driving distance of Bala amenities and for exploring Eryri. Super-King size bed in the main bedroom was very comfy. The other beds are suitable for small children.

United KingdomThe only thing that could be imporved would be the cleanliness, there were areas that could use a proper dusting and a little bit more attention to detail. But on the whole, it didn't really impact our trip.
Stayed here with my 11 year old neice, my best friend and her two children and the house was perfect for us. Its a real home away from home, with everything you could need for a holiday. The house has lots of character and plenty of space. The kids loved the big sofa with the cup holders! Perfect base for exploring the Snowdonia area
