Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe hostess in the restaurant wasn't very friendly. The breakfast was disappointing.
I loved that it was dog friendly and they were welcome anywhere. My husband and I enjoyed the whisky bar very much. The gentleman attending the bar was brilliant.

United KingdomA little pricey for what you get. Disappointing packed lunch
Great location. Cosy hotel with pub-style restaurant and superb whisky bar. Right on the banks of the Spey. Suitable for overnight stay walking the Speyside Way. Rooms and bathrooms clean and well presented. Solid 4-star facilities.

United StatesNo A/C, I’m sure that’s not usually a problem there was a heatwave during our summer stay. Bathrooms and shower on the smaller side.
The property is beautiful with a great restaurant, great staff, great whiskey bar, and close to top distilleries.

United StatesThe bartender seemed overwhelmed for the number of guests/mixed drink orders. He was very knowledgeable about scotch and gave us great advice - it just took a long time!
Stayed a couple of nights - family of four - 2 adults and 2 teenagers- we had two rooms. Convenient that the teens could have their own room with 2 twin beds. We ate one night in the restaurant. Food was delicious. We also went to the bar. Amazing scotch selection. The included breakfast was superb - combination of buffet and made to order hot breakfast. Easy parking. Check in was fast and easy. Clean rooms. Excellent bath products including whisky lotion.

United KingdomUn informed regarding the kitchen closing at 2:30pm and 5pm especially, reception staff said to go down for food anytime, so ill-advised. Was a bit of a nightmare as we were starving and had the macallan tour at 5, didn't get back till later on so missed food entirely.
Staff were lovely, room was nice, smack bang centre of the speyside whisky tour near macallan and other distilleries.

United StatesA few glitches: internet wasn’t working for a good part of our day, the pub closed at 8 pm Sunday and at 8:10pm my husband could get nothing to eat, not even bread or chips, or crisps. Monday morning at breakfast a laughable number of food items were not available. It just didn’t exude the sense of a top hotel.
Lovely hotel, nice room, great tub, dinner at Spey Inn was nice, very good breakfast, whisky bar impressive

United KingdomWe had a wonderful stay and thoroughly enjoyed our one night at the hotel - but it is extremely expensive and not sure it is worth the extra cost compared with some other lovely hotels we used on our Scottish trip.
We were very fortunate to be upgraded and were given a beautiful room with double aspect windows and a whisky decanter on the table! Very comfortable bed and a modern bathroom with lovely fluffy towels. Very good meal at the attached Speyside Inn in the evening followed by a great time in the Quaich Bar sampling whiskies - thanks for the recommendation Oscar! Breakfast was delicious though service was somewhat slow (possibly not enough staff for a full hotel - the ones on duty were working very hard).

United StatesI hate that the wifi and cell service are completely unreliable. Breakfast would have been good in theory, but it took nearly an hour to get our food and there was only one other table seated!! The buffet had been completely decimated by our 9 am spot, the only time available, so we had limited options. The other two guests in the room ordered two avocado toasts and they seriously waited 45 minutes for their order as well. I heard the waitress tell them their food was being plated, and it took ten full minutes after that to arrive. It's a fine place to stay but I wouldn't recommend it without telling people to expect some annoyances. At a much lower price, I'd give this property a 9.
We liked our room except for the fact that the shower leaked all over the floor. It's pretty typical in the UK to see these half-walled showers but this one was especially leaky. The bed was comfortable and the location is great. The restaurant has a limited menu but was good, and we liked being able to walk just across the street for another dining option. Lots of parking. Felt very safe and would be good for a solo traveler.

United KingdomThe room was the worst bit. The shower screen was mouldy and didn’t work, the pillows were very old and rock hard, the sweet vintage radio doesn’t get any signal and the tv is pointless. I’d suggest new pillows, shower screen, and getting rid of the radio/tv and replacing with books by Scottish authors. The Walkers shortbread was a nice touch. The restaurant is expensive but worth it for lunch/dinner. It’s best to book as it gets busy. The breakfast was fine - we were disappointed to not see square sausage or white pudding on a Scottish breakfast menu.
The main thing we enjoyed was the Quaich whisky bar and chatting with the staff. The Quaich is beautiful, with whisky everywhere you turn. There’s big comfy sofas and wing-backed chairs, and there’s games to play while you sample the best whisky available. A big shout out to Oscar in the Quaich - never have we met such a kind whisky enthusiast. He’s an asset to the hotel. A special shout out to Jamie and Parker, the dream team behind the bars at the hotel. Clearly they’ve got it down to a fine art.

United KingdomThe bathroom could have been cleaner - around the bath there was quite a bit of pink & black residue. The wood work needed cleaned. The hotel was short staffed, which was very unfortunate for all.
The young girl that greeted us each morning for breakfast was so lovely. She worked short staffed on her own but was attentive, polite, and made sure you had everything you needed/wanted. The food and service was good.
