The location, the friendly staff and the comfortable room. The hotel was good value for a short stay.

The hotel felt a bit tired .. the stairs creaked.

Room was spacious, good bathroom, clean and comfortable, tea and coffee making. Great value. Breakfast was fabulous.

No plug sockets beside the bed. Difficult to find anyone on reception. Our safe didn’t lock.

The hotel is in a great location - walking distance from the town centre. The staff were helpful when I needed to call a breakdown service and have my car towed! The room was generally quiet except for a few creaky floorboards.

We requested single beds but it was just two singles pushed together so effectively a double.

some of the staff were very friendly, breakfast was decent

Upon arrival we were told that the booked room wasn't fully accessible from the lift. In fact, from the 2nd floor we had to go out onto the landing, descend approx 5 stairs then go UP another 12 steep stairs. If you have large luggage (as you would at the start of a 2 week trip) then this is pretty hazardous. It's even worse to get the luggage back down the stairs for check out. Staff at check in advised us that "we should've made a request if we wanted a room fully accessible by lift". However on the booking.com page there is nothing in the fine print that suggests there are rooms like this. So how are we to know? There is 1 property facility ticked about "upper rooms having stairs" but the lift facility is also ticked. Also there's no support rail for the shower to assist in stepping over the edge of the bath tub. Pretty risky Craiglands should work with Booking.com to more accurately reflect the layout of the hotel, to ensure that customers can make informed choices on the rooms booked. This is not a small B&B in the countryside, it's a decent-sized business hotel. I'd expect better

    Bedroom and bathroom spotlessly clean.

There was a wedding in the hotel. We could not get parked on site due to the volume of cars and had to park on a main road a distance from the hotel. I am a blue badge holder. Cars from the wedding were parked in the disabled bays with no badge. I had to keep looking outside until approx 10pm when a space in the main car park became available. The wedding was over by 11pm but our room was above the front door. There were fireworks, floodlights for photos/videos of groom and bride leaving, the wedding guests talking, cars reving and general disruption. I had asked for a quiet room and probably got one of the most noisy ones. My mother is elderly and found it difficult to settle. I know we paid much less to stay overnight than the income generated by the wedding function but felt we were treated as second class citizens. The wedding guests almost swept us out of the way a couple of times passing through reception. The man on reception kept apologising but couldn't do anything. I would have booked elsewhere if I had realised the extent of the function. It certainly was not a relaxing night away which i had booked as a treat for my elderly mother

Location - about 15 mins walk into town. Free parking Left a dog bed and bowl for the dog.

Issues with noise from Asian weddings on both nights we stayed. They charge £25 per night extra to service the room due to our dog, and then didn’t service the room after our first night! Charged £15 per day for my breakfast as we had only booked for single occupancy- which was very expensive for canned fruit and buffet hot food.

Comfortable bed, no outside noise, spacious room

Definite need of TLC, peeling wallpaper, lots of chipped paint etc. Bathroom mirror came off its screws as soon as we checked in and smashed a glass. No offer of changing room, asked for bathroom to be hoovered whilst we were out due to small shards of glass. Large pieces of glass and mirror removed (that we had already put into a pile) but not hoovered. Sought out staff to rectify for around 15 minutes at reception but no sign of staff after multiple rings of the reception and bar bell. Ended up putting towels down in the bathroom so it was safe to walk in as we wanted to go to bed.

Visiting family so location perfect. Staff are lovely. I have stAyed here a few times and it just gets better. And it’s the cheapest hotel in the area. This visit, it looks like there has been some refurbishment so much improved so even better value for money.

Some areas looking a bit tired but seems to be improvements/refurbishment going on.
