Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Craigmount is above a 5* rating. Nicole and Mal have thought of everything to make the stay the best possible experience, from the pleasant and welcoming greeting to the moment you leave. Our room was amazing with a Peter Pan theme, it was quiet, spotless and provided everything you might need. The bed and bedding is first class. The attention to detail goes above and beyond and second to none. Breakfast and evening meal was fantastic with so much choice. I can honestly say our hosts and the accommodation were outstanding. Wished we could have stayed much longer.

United KingdomNothing to dislike.
Good location on the edge of Wigtown, the ‘Book Capital of Scotland’, but only a short walk into town. We had a comfortable en-suite room named ‘Ring of Bright Water’ and themed after the author Gavin Maxwell. We had planned ahead and booked an evening meal of home cooked chicken curry and lasagne. Both dishes were tasty and plentiful. Breakfast in the morning was cooked to order and superb. Nothing was too much trouble for our hosts. Thank you for making us feel welcome.

United StatesNavigating the driveway in our large van was a little tight, but certainly manageable - a very minor quibble when everything else was so wonderful.
Excellent location for a book shopping trip to Wigtown. I honestly wish we had been able to stay more than one night - the hosts were wonderful - very friendly and gracious with advice and recommendations for our continued journey to Glasgow and Edinburgh (Mal recommended taking the coastal road which was a scenic delight). Breakfast was superb - my first time trying haggis and black pudding, both of which were terrific. The rooms were spotless, spacious, and well appointed and the beds were quite comfortable. If our future travels brings us to the area, this will be our first choice for accommodations!

United KingdomWe might have traded the sea-view for the extra flight of stairs: we being there to celebrate 80th this might not be a matter for the sprightly 70 year olds we once were. Wigtown seemed to be mostly closed - or open when convenient for shopkeepers - not just books - we failed to find an available splurge dinner venue to round off our trip having stupidly decided to stay Mon/Tues (this of course is no reflection on Craigmount itself.) The Co-op was the only store open 8am-10pm in the village. Isle of Whithorn was beautiful and boasted a very pleasant community cafe but again it closed at 3pm.
Good breakfast (pre-ordered for next day). Lots of books available. Good TV with iplayer available. V Good Wi-fi connection

It’s a beautiful house. Well maintained. The room was beautiful with lovely little touches, like a disposable shower cap. shampoo, conditioner and body wash provided in a dispenser in the shower. There was a hairdryer in the drawer along with an emergency sewing kit and first aid kit.

Craigmount is perfectly situated if you want to visit the bookshops in Wigtown, which are all within easy walking distance. It is also a good base from which to explore both the Machars and the Rhinns of Galloway. The hosts, Nicole and Malcolm, are friendly and helpful and serve a good breakfast with plenty of choice. The rooms are comfortable and well furnished and each one has its own book theme. There is a guest lounge to relax in, with plenty of choice of books and games. We enjoyed our stay there and are happy to recommend it to others.
