Spa very outdated and in need of refreshment. Been coming here for 11 years. Nothing changed.

When we arrived to check-in it was around midday and the very pleasant lady at reception told us that our room was ready. The only issue was that as normal check in time was 3 pm we could only check in if we paid them an extra £30 which was £10 for each hour prior to the 3 pm check in. I was told by the duty manager that this is the system which is worked throughout the whole of the world, although I have never seen it and I have travelled throughout the world so therefore I thought it was nothing more than a con. If the room is ready, why do I have to wait until 3 pm or pay them £30 extra. We didn’t pay of course just went into the centre and came back a little later. If I had asked for the room to be ready by 12 noon and, was then told of the early check in charge I would have happily agreed or change my plans. That was not the case I did not request any early check-in time. We have since transferred to the Crown Plaza in Harrogate, arrived at approximately 10.30 told our room was ready and nothing to pay or even a request. This is a far superior customer experience and one that Leeds could actually learn from. Be very wary of the early check in time cost at this hotel which, in my view, is no more than an exercise in generating more money and is quite frankly ridiculous, as ridiculous as the suggestion that all hotels do this throughout the world!!

The room and staff generally were very good and we had a very pleasant stay. There was an issue, with the original check in time which will be shown in the comments below and certainly needs improving.

The shower in the room was our only disappointment- lacked power. Otherwise no complaints whatsoever

Room was comfortable with all normal facilities. Location was perfect - within walking distance of the town centre. Gym and swimming facilities a real bonus. Breakfast was amazing- wished we'd stayed longer!

Pool area and bathrooms in bedroom could do with a nice decorative uplift to suit rest of hotel down stairs. If you use gym you have to go all the way into swimming pool changing rooms to store any belongings, would be useful if there was some lockers/ storage upstairs for gym users. No where to put towels when in the pool area, could put some hooks up on wall.

Nice entrance & interior in main lobby & restaurant area. Happy there was hot chocolate packets in room as i never drink tea/ coffee so that was a nice touch. Breakfast selection was yummy and fresh with good variety. Bedrooms were very comfortable and spacious. 13/15 minute walk to centre. Car park had plenty of spaces. Swimming pool was perfect temperature. Ambience of hotel and restaurant was calm and comfortable. Evening meal was tasty with plenty of options for food

The cardiovascular equipment in the gym was a little outdated in my view compared to what I'd expect for the price we paid. The sound proofing in the bedrooms and adjacent corridors was a little under-expectaction - other guests could easily be heard talking in the rooms nearby.

Gluten Free breakfast options were excellent. Restaurant staff and reception staff were really helpful & courteous

The only thing that was mentioned from my group was that they wish there were some hash browns at breakfast. Also, it was a bit of of a shame, that 14 year old couldn't go into the pool after 6pm because there wasn't a lifeguard. But we went on the morning, there wasn't any lifeguards there anyway, and there signs up stating this, so I'm not sure the 14 year old couldn't go in from 6pm as nothing was different. We didn't arrive until 6pm, so I had to book extra time in the hotel for late check out, so we could have breakfast then let it rest before going for a swim. Maybe this is something that could be looked into for future. Other than that, all spot on!! Thank you for a great stay

Decor was beautiful, staff were so accommodating, went above and beyond, couldn't have been nicer. Would 100% stay again.

The pool was a bit cramped with them trying to fit lane swimming in, it's definitely not a big enough pool for that!

The rooms could do with a little upgrade, and the beds were quite hard. My daughter who is 4 says there should be music in the lifts! Haha
