I would have liked a bedside lamp, there was only a very bright overhead light. But I would go there again if I have a reason to go to Edinburgh

The breakfast was amazing, bacon, eggs, sausages, hash brown, many different cereals ,yoghurt, many fresh fruits, seeds, pancakes, croissants, buns, butter jam syrop, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, or juice.

The mattress could have been better

A great breakfast with many different options (vegan and vegetarian options included). The staff were friendly, kind and helpful when we needed a hair dryer or anything extra. Rooms were spacious with a nice view of the Holyrood park.

    - Room is quite basic, wouldn't recommend for those who want to spend a lot of time in their room - Breakfast is just ok, could be better quality

    - It's great value for money with the breakfast included - Facilities onsite such as a shop and restaurant if you fancied staying on campus one night. - Good transport links into the city centre. - Right next to Arthur's seat

The room was too small to accommodate two beds and two people comfortably (normally it’s a one-person residence room). The wifi was only sporadic. The shower had mold in the corners and, bizarrely, a door that, when opened, made it impossible to reach your towel on only towel hook in the bathroom! Our room was on the ground floor looking out at bushes and cars and was rather dark. The laundry system took two days to figure out because staff had not been informed that a whole new payment system had been installed on the day we arrived. None of these things made for a horrible experience, but they made the room seem overpriced.

It is located within walking distance of the main attractions such as the Arthur’s Seat trail and the Royal Mile (also served by buses) and a few blocks from restaurants. The breakfast was outstandingly plentiful and varied. Nice to have staff on duty 24/7. Pleasant building and campus.

You can tell it's a student residence. It's MOSTLY clean but lots of little things and surfaces are missed. Not shabby at all but clearly a dorm rather than a hotel. It's still quite comfortable. It's also slightly expensive but everything in the UK is that way so not any more so than anywhere else. Overall, none of this detracted from the stay and I would for sure stay here again.

Really smooth check in and check out process. A good location slightly away from the old town but not too far that it was hard to walk. We walked there multiple times per day. The building itself was comfortable and had all the amenities you would need. The breakfast was quite nice with lots of choice between English breakfast items, pancakes, cereals, sandwhich items, fruits, etc. It's all buffet style.

Location was somewhat out of the way but a regular and convenient bus right outside the facilities direct into the city centre made this feasible.

Excellent value for money, a brilliant budget accomodation option. Staff were wonderful, and facilities clean and tidy. The breakfast was simply extraordinary, I can’t emphasise this enough! I would return!

The room itself was comfortable enough, but not to hotel standards

The hotel was very close to the university, where I had some meetings the staff were very friendly and the room and facilities clean. The breakfast was good, although very busy. There are facilities for dinner on the site, which were great. The stay was value for money.

Indication how to get to the reception could be better as the area is huge.

Reception building is pretty hard to find - maybe they need to enhanced signage in the area. Or perhaps, put a map of the Pollock Hall area all around the place so it is easier for people to navigate.

Location is perfect, with a nice view of Arthur's Seat. It's a comfortable option for single travellers on a budget. Excellent breakfast spread, although it can get pretty boring eating the same thing every day.

The Wi-Fi was pretty non existent which was very frustrating. Bed linen spotless, however under the bed was filthy. No shelf in the shower for toiletries.

Perfect and affordable option for a shorter stay
    • Leisure trip
    • Family with young children

Breakfast only good for people who like standard English. Not much choices for allergy sufferes or vegans. Bathrooms very small and for shared bathrooms not much space to put your clothes and towel while you shower.

I had a single room with shared bathroom. Room size and equipment great, bed very comfortable. The ubication was good enough for foot walks to the centre and also busses nearby that have high frequency. Although fully booked, it was pretty quiet. Staff helpful and very friendly.
