We enjoyed our stay and made the most of it as best we could, but the place has so much more potential.

We stayed for four nights. On the first day, we noticed a few large flies inside, not ideal, but understandable given the countryside location. We kept the windows closed throughout our stay to avoid worsening the issue. Unfortunately, the problem escalated significantly over the next few days with between 15-20 flies in the kitchen alone. I emailed the host but received no response. We ended up purchasing fly traps to help manage the situation, but it was still quite bad. We couldn’t prepare food in the kitchen or leave drinks unattended, which was really frustrating. We were only provided one towel each for showering and none specifically for the hot tub, which was a bit inconvenient. However, John was helpful and responsive once we contacted him about it. Additionally, we noticed a few stains on the bedding when we arrived (possibly ink) which was off-putting.

The atmosphere is peaceful, perfect for unwinding. The interior is spacious and well-designed, with plenty of room to move around without feeling crowded. Great place to escape the noise and just enjoy a calm environment. The host was helpful with providing assistance with WiFi issues.

No internet the first day . Could not use the hot tub as there was a large hole in the side of it which contained a wasps nest, contacted elm escapes and was told we could use the hot tub in another lodge that was two doors away, this was very disappointing as we paid for the convenience of having one at our lodge

As previous guests had mentioned in 2023 the sauna was out of order on arrival. However we were not told this fact before arrival and as it was one of the main reasons for booking the property it was annoying to say the least. The advertised coffee machine was also out of order having no fuse in the plug. There was was also rubbish from previous guests in the cutlery drawer and in the vase on the cupboard in the lounge.

Location of the property was wonderful

We were both very much looking forward to using the sauna, but on arrival there was a note on the sauna door saying out of order. I contacted Elm Escapes and they were very apologetic, however it was still a little bit disappointing as it was one of the reasons we had booked. Also the slats under the bed kept falling in on themselves with us just sitting on the bed, we kept having to get up, lift the mattress and place the slats back on the bed.

It was lovely as a couple to have all the space that we had at a cheaper rate being a couple. The private hot tub was lovely and it was a very relaxing stay for us. In a beautiful quiet area aswell.

Felt like it was very un maintained didn’t like how it said it was dog friendly but there was no way it was dog friendly as there is no private space just for your lodge it’s all open so our dogs just could run everywhere and go to other lodges which was a pain as we had to keep a really good eye on them it would be such a easy fix to fence off areas for the individual lodges. No hairdryers the toilet in one of the bedrooms was no private at all had clear glass where if you in one of the beds you can see straight through. Very worn out everywhere and decking needs painting. We did see a man there fixing some bits but it needs more than one person poor guy was working solo till gone 10pm.

Loved the views of the cows and fields around us

Potential for superb let down by niggly faults

The lodge was basically clean not deep cleaned as stated in texts received by myself. The windows inside & out were dirty. Cobwebs in the corners of both room & windows. There was also water damage to the living room ceiling as you entered the property. The patio where the bbq & pub style table & bench was, was overgrown with weeds. The location was a total mobile black spot (emergency call only) WiFi was non existent as I or my husband couldn't log into it at all at any point during our stay.. The water in the hot tub became very murky after 2 days of use, and the seats in the hot tub felt dirty to the touch.... Like hardened in grime. There was no smell of chlorine while using it, was this actually topped up before we arrived? Due to being in a black spot for mobile signal it made it hard to try to ring/ text either Beth or Maria All in all the lodge was nice, we did have a relaxing time. Would stay again if the above is rectified

My husband & I liked the fact the lodge was totally open planned. The first impression was of a lovely place to stay. The kitchen was well equipped with what you would expect. It also had a hot tub at the rear of the building on the decking. Hot water on tap every time we had a shower or washed the dishes.

Lovely lodge, just in need of maintenance

A fair bit of maintenance was needed, broken slats on balcony area, broken hot tub lid, large crack in kitchen roof. Oven door bounces shut making it difficult to take food out Without a second pair of hands. Sofa broken and dated. There seemed to be a fly problem in the bedroom waking up daily to even more flys. There was mice outside living under a broken fence panel. We were also woken every night to the sound of chewing above us, can only think there was squirrels or rats living in the loft?! WiFi is hit and miss, and living room TV doesn't work properly with a slightly broken screen. There was also a large amount of dog poo around the grounds of the lodge.

Gorgeous views from oak Lodge. The hot tub was perfectly situated for privacy and the views. The lodge was spacious, clean and warm. The lodge felt private and away from anyone and everyone. The views from the master bedroom were stunning.

Relaxing escape but property needs updating.
    • Leisure trip
    • Family with young children
    • Three-Bedroom Villa
    • Stayed 3 nights
    • Submitted from a mobile device

The downside are as follows:- 1) property is very tired and needs updating, walls need painting and carpets are thread bare with holes and are in desperate need of replacing. 2) The WiFi is poor and drops out numerous times. 3) The hot tub lid has straps on it, but are not fitted for some unknown reason! It was windy on our arrival and throughout the night so the lid blew off which meant that it took ages to heat up!! 4) The sauna which you paid £1 an hour for was tempremental and worked when it wanted to.. Lost a few pounds coins!!! 5)The downstairs wet room was the worst and floods and doesn't drain away the water. It was very annoying and dangerous. 6) The decking area is slippery, and fence needs panting etc but this was probably due to the time of year we stayed. 7) The driveway area is full of pot holes and weeds. 8) Be mindful of inconsiderate persons(Maple lodge 27th Dec on this occasion) in the other lodges who let their dogs run around unsupervised and fouling without clearing it up. 9) Toiletries were supposed to be provided but none were. Enquires were made but didn't materialise. Two different excuses were provided for why this didn't happen. If some time, money and effort are taken in correcting the above then this property would return to a 10 but it seems since it's time on four in a bed it hasn't been maintained to a high standard.

Relaxing stay in Willow Lodge with the family (3 adults, 2 kids (6 and 9) ) and two dogs in a remote area. The lodges are very spacious and comfortable and we all loved the hot tub and sauna. We also took advantage of having a mobile maseusse which was great. The owners were very quick to reply to any concerns raised and communication before hand was very good.

The bed was comfy but the mattress was bobbly so needed a mattress protector and a thicker sheet. The oven door springs back up which made handling hot stuff awkward and abit dangerous. The decking area needed a small amount of maintenance abit of love and care and the grass could have been cut as was very long and a few stingers too. Also the patches on the ceiling where had been touched up looked abit untidy.

The hot tub was so nice and big. The oak lodge was stunning and the views all round the walks were amazing too. And it was nice and private. Would highly recommend 😍

A very enjoyable stay in a spacious lodge which could be improved with better maintenance,
    • Leisure trip
    • Couple
    • Three-Bedroom Villa
    • Stayed 4 nights

The lodges and outside areas are in need of maintenance & refreshing. The grass, gardens and patios were all overgrown and unkempt, which detracted from the otherwise smart lodges. Some certification had lapsed. Instruction weren't available for appliances, so using them was a guessing game. (Other niggles like cheap and well used crockery & cutlery, broken cafetiere etc. Only 1 shelf in the oven so impossible to cook a family meal.) We booked a 3 bedroom lodge for couple occupation and were informed later that the couple rate meant the other 2 bedrooms' would be locked and not available to us. Not a problem in our case but it made our anniversary stay a bit less special as in effect we had booked a 1 bed lodge so not as good value as we thought.

The lodge was very spacious and clean. We enjoyed the hot tub which was drained, cleaned and treated prior to arrival. Private sauna also a great bonus, and at £1 for an hour excellent value. Communication before, during and after our stay was excellent. Good Wi-Fi. Parking right in front of the lodge. We like that we could bring our dog too, and the accommodation had a practical attitude to this. Most places say pets aren't allowed on the furniture, but as many people will ignore this they simple suggest you bring extras blankets with you. We covered the whole L shaped sofa with our own throws and it worked well. It was a very quiet and pleasant setting in an excellent location for touring mid Wales.

We had a fabulous time but just 2 little items could do with sorting out. The kettle requires changing and the coffee machine couldn't be used as it required de-scaling. But that was it. Everything else was perfect.

We stayed in The Willow Lodge. It had all the MoD cons required for a self catering stay. The sauna was amazing. We used it every day. Make sure you take £1 coins to use and it stays warm for hours. There was a gorgeous little village in Knighton around 10 minutes drive away that we visited most days to do walks and grab food. We completed Offa's dyke and got some fabulous pictures. Was lovely to come back to such a beautiful setting at night in the Willow Lodge and use the Hot Tub. The dogs had the best time.

The bed was a little creaky at night - I understand self catering lodges but hand wash around key areas wouldn’t go a miss! Luckily a near by shop wasn’t too far away for us to grab some of these. bbq was a little over used and rusting so we gave that a miss too it would be nice for there to be a gated space for dogs to roam around without them having the potential to disturb the other lodges :)

Well laid out for what we needed, spacious and well lit. sauna and hot tub was a nice touch!

Great location. Very quiet area . We had the lodge next to the river which was lovely . This gave us a lot of privacy which we went for. Hot tub was amazing though we could not use it until the following day as it had been cleaned on the day of arrival and it took awhile for it to heat up. But not a problem.

This lodge was missing little things I would normally and previous experienced in similar cabins. No salt/pepper and needing to drive 20 mins to the nearest shop. Only one tea towel- yes there was a washing machine but no tablets/liquid to use this. We arrived on 12/12 and no Xmas decorations which was also disappointing as we booked for our Xmas get away. The hot tub simply couldn’t be used properly. There was not Enough water in there and the temp never heated fully the whole time we was there. We used this for a whole 10 mins of our 4 night stay because it wasn’t hot enough. When we used the jets in the hot tub the water would just squirt all over the decking so we was left with a half empty cold tub as to why we didn’t use. Very disappointing. The hot tub cover itself was very old and damaged possibly why it never heated up fully.

The property from the outside is gorgeous. We loved the fact we had a tv in the living room and main bedroom. coffee machine was great with pods even for hot chocolates. Free wifi which was needed as no signal otherwise. Large kitchen area.

We had no hot water for 24hours, contacted the owner and a plumber was sent out that evening, we were asked would we prefer them to return that evening and be at the property until midnight or just after as it would take a few hours or prefer them to return around 10am the next morning. As we were travelling to meet family the next day and we opted for the next day. we waited for the plumbers the next morning and contacted the owner after 10am had passed with still no plumbers, we were told that they wouldn’t be out until 1pm. We weren’t able to stay at the property and wait so we left the key in the key box so the plumbers could let themselves in. We both used kettles of hot water to wash before heading to the family event that we needed to attend over an hour away from the property. we contacted the owner during the family event as no one had contacted us even though a few hours had passed, just to make sure we would have hot water on return to the property. when we returned the hot water took around an hour to work with the showers so this was the second evening that was effected by the hot water. We understand that these things happen and sometimes it can’t be helped but we were told by the plumbers that the owner knew about this hot water issue before our stay, this information was frustrating as if we were told this before our stay we could have made the decision to maybe look for another property or have the price lowered so we weren’t paying full price for a property and the facilities that we weren’t able to fully use. we had also asked the owner could we use the other properties on site to just shower before the event and clean after ourselves but was told the keys are kept offsite by a maintenance team, the other properties on site had guests in them that let themselves into to using the same key boxes that we were told were empty.

Went away to celebrate a 30th birthday, good location for what we needed, clean rooms and good facilities including hot tub. Comfy bed and sofa area. The lack of hot water that was a problem before we arrived made an impact on the stay.

Listing is misleading. Listing states there is a sauna in the property, this is incorrect, no sauna in our lodge. The sofa was dangerous, the connector that joined the two parts together was broken and a metal spike stuck out from the sofa when it kept coming apart, not good when you have a child stating with you. Owner did not reply to messages left but was happy to send what I presume are automated messages to me. TV remote did not work in main bedroom, was no way of turning TV on or off. Tried changing batteries but it didn't work. Fridge had missing shelf, couldn't put things in without them becoming frozen. Dishwasher was missing top draw water spinner so nothing cleaned properly.

The size and location of the lodge was great. Layout of the property was really nice.
