Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomIt took a while to figure out the controls for the shower as the bathroom lighting was "subdued".
This place makes a point of its quirky decor, which made it more interesting to stay in than a bland hotel room! The location was ideal for the city centre, too.

United KingdomThe shower was not fit for purpose. It was absolutely impossible to use. I understand electric showers and water pressure in old buildings can be challenging but the shower head only allowed a trickle of water through it. Surely this makes the shower impossible to clean too. They sell new shower heads in a shop across the road for £5. The mood lighting was romantic and relaxing, but a big light is also necessary. We needed to use torches to be able to see around the room.
The room was decorated in a lovely colourful and quirky way, with interesting art and antique mirrors all over the walls. The mismatched antique furniture brought everything together perfectly. There were lovely lamp shades around the room and we had a great view of one of the main streets in Chester. The bar downstairs was very traditional but also carries the same colourful and quirky theme. The staff were all friendly and welcoming.

CyprusThe parking situation was misleading, though. The listing makes you think they have parking, but they don't. They just send you to a public one where the machine is capped at four hours, so you're forced to download an app to park for any longer, which is a right pain
The room was a bit of a time warp, to be honest. It's in an old building, and it looks like the furniture's been there since day one. The mattress was decent, though, I'll give them that. Can't fault the location, everything's on your doorstep.

United KingdomThe ladies in the front bedrooms couldn’t open their windows very wide so it was warm. Also, there was traffic noise from 5am. The room at the back was cool and quiet. Very steep stairs lead to the rooms.
Quirky decor including random tiling in the bathrooms and random pictures over all the walls. We were a group of 6 ladies and they were able to accommodate us with 3 rooms with single beds. The staff allowed us to leave our bags before and after our stay so we wear able to explore Chester without baggage.

United KingdomNot comfortable on a hot summer evening but that's a problem old buildings have. Air-conditioning not normally required in UK but it certainly was the night we stayed. I would recommend nonetheless.

GermanyThe twin beds were rolling and we could not find a way to fit them, so they moved everytime we sat down on them, plus super soft matrasses. For one night it was okay, but would not have wanted to sleep on them for longer. Friday night is karaoke night in the pub downstairs, so bedtime was rather loud, but bearable. The tiny stairs were a little hard to navigate with a big suitcase, but manageable.
Very comfy and small room, very colourful and special. Only a few minutes walk to the Town Clock and 10 minutes walk to train station and bus interchange, we loved the location.

United StatesIt's easy to perform well when nothing goes wrong, but these folks stepped up and solved a problem in my room over which they had no control. I'd stay there again in a heart beat! Got a free beer out of it, too! What more could you ask for???

AustraliaAvailable of car parking nearby. Having to lug our cases up the stairs. I can't complain, though - we understood the facilities when we booked.
The hotel's quirky decor. Comfortable, buget-priced in a touristy town. We had a very economical breakfast in a nearby pub.
