Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomOnly thing to mention is being a beautiful older building means there is no automatic landing light and taking an older dog downstairs in the night needs caution (but the complimentary dog treats helped!)
Perfect location, great food, kind staff, clean rooms. Exactly the place you need to break up a long journey. The fox and hounds are surrounded by beautiful scenery and stunning walks and allowing pets means this hotel is ideal for any solo, small groups or families that want a hike with their dogs! The beds are clean and comfy, and the view from the cottage style windows looking across the downs are worth adding this as an extra night on your trip. Coffee and tea is provided with a surplus of milk and sugar too :)

United KingdomNot a lot! The meal menus were a bit limited but were very reasonably priced. No complaints! Very large portions. I had venison casserole which was good.
Amazing value - just under £60 for en-suite double room including an excellent breakfast in August is an absolute bargain. Yes, the room was dated - the bath suite in 80s pink - but who cares! The bed was comfortable & the room clean. There was a fair amount of traffic noise but I'm a sound sleeper. I guess if that's an issue, ask for a room at the back. I like my real ales and two were on offer - Timothy Taylor's Landlord & Jail Ale - both in perfect condition. What a joy to sit in the garden drinking great beer & not having to travel afterwards. Great location on Dartmoor for those wanting to walk. For mobility reasons I can no longer take advantage of this benefit but would recommend to others. Altogether, an extremely professionally run pub with rooms.

United KingdomAt first, we had some reservations about staying overnight at a property located in the middle of open fields. To our pleasant surprise, the place turned out to be absolutely exceptional. The room was large, clean, and spacious, with a beautiful view of the valley. The hotel staff were very friendly, courteous, and always willing to help. In the evening, we dined at the hotel’s restaurant, which serves homemade, carefully prepared dishes. We particularly recommend the pork cheeks and the venison – the meat was incredibly tender, flavorful, and simply melted in the mouth. The only minor drawback was that the portions could have been slightly larger. In summary, the hotel far exceeded our expectations, and we will be happy to return here should we find ourselves in the area again.

United KingdomNothing bad to say about this sensible and friendly little pub.
An entrepreneurial inn (does camping and caravans too) with great food and basic (but clean and comfortable) rooms. The staff were great, and facilitated secure storage for our bicycles. It's close to there Devon coast-to-coast cycle trail and great value too.

United KingdomThe rooms have not been redecorated in over 50 years. But they are functional and this was the only one of the 5 hotels in 5 days we stayed in which had a bathtub. The noise from from trafick is not reduced much by the original windows and dated secondary glazing.
This was the perfect start and end location for a five day walking tour of North Dartmoor. Pleanty of parking and very easy access to many of the higher Tors in this area. The staff were welcoming and as helpful as could be. The food here is excellent.

United KingdomThe rooms could do with some updating, chipped furniture. Bed should be positioned if it’s a two person room so each person can get out of their side of the bed not have to climb over one person to get out the double bed to go to the toilet in the night or indeed just to get out of bed.
Nice old pub hotel. Great Staff, beer, food. Reasonable prices to stay, brilliant free breakfast included in room rate.

United KingdomIf you need luxury living this isn’t for you. If basic clean accommodation and a down to earth pub and delicious breakfast are your thing then this is perfect.
A great old fashioned pub which is good for an overnight stop on the way to Cornwall. It’s no frills and old fashioned but clean and v good value. The breakfast that was included in the price was excellent.

United KingdomThat they allow dogs in bedrooms. Unfortunately the room below us had two dogs . It was a wet evening and they both got wet and the doggie smell was pungent and unpleasant. They were also fretful when the owners left them in the bedroom.
