How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe huts were cozy and most importantly clean. The welcome pack of bread, honey and cookies was a pleasant surprise, not to mention the fresh, delicious apples right off the tree. The ball-pit bus, pet goats and spacious lawn kept the children entertained. Food at the pub was good and portions were generous. Host/owner was friendly and accommodating

Verified reviewNo Wifi - and none in the surrounding villages making it difficult to research places to visit
So pleased you enjoyed your stay. For the benefit of future readers, wifi is freely available at the pub in which the shepherd huts and bell tents are located

Verified reviewI took my 3 sons. 2 are autistic and were worried about staying somewhere different. We had a lovely time! The surroundings and staff are lovely. My 5 year old loved the play bus and the live music. The pub even cooked his pasta for us a certain way (the only thing he'll eat for dinner) and stored his milk and drinks in their fridge. We felt really looked after and will definitely be back.
Apart from it being cold one night (obviously nit their fault!) Nothing.

Verified reviewSarah and Simon could not be more helpful and the shepherd hut was perfect for our stay. The facilities had everything we could need and it was lovely and peaceful. The food in the pub was amazing and we were so welcomed and well looked after.
It was a bit tricky with poor phone reception at times and the area was very remote but lovely and very quiet and rural.

Verified reviewIt had a really lovely vibe. Friendly staff when we arrived. Loved how the Bell tents were situated and the over grown areas which were back to nature. It really added to the feel rather then a mowed field which often campsites are. Really loved the attention to detail about everything.
Maybe another light in the bell tent would have been useful but not essential.

Verified reviewGreat facilities (excellent activities for kids - crazy golf and play bus and great tent and shower/ loos), lovely location next to the pub with tasty food and brilliant live music on a Saturday. Really a wonderful break and we will definitely be back!
The people in the tent next door started playing the guitar and singing at midnight.

Verified reviewInitially thought I'd found a hidden gem as when I called to say we would be late arriving the owners couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating.
The tent was extremely damp and all bedding was wet. This was advertised as dog friendly accomodation and was sadly anything but dog friendly. The collie dog which seemed to live there lunged at my daughter twice and snapped at my young dog. The food was pretty average. The thing that caused most upset though was the lady (friend of owners?) Who complained that the dogs had kept her awake barking all night and was extremely passive aggressive towards my daughter (who has disabilities) telling her that she would need to either sleep in the van with the dog or remove the dog from the premises. The dog was barking through the night and was in a crate in a fully insulated and air conditioned van so as not to annoy other guests whom upon speaking to said they couldn't hear him. I have paid a lot less money for far nicer and friendlier campsites and incidentally when we left at 7am on the Sunday morning there was a dog barking constantly from one of the static vans and ours were quiet. All in all I was very disappointed with what we received for the money we paid.
Frustrated to see this review as feel it is a bit unfair. At no time during your stay did you tell us the bedding was wet and can see no reason why it would be. You can see from the other reviews that stayed in our tents the same weekend that they had a great time and really rated the pub food. You seemed to have a strange attitude towards the welfare of your dogs and respecting other campers. You left your dogs in your van through much of the day and throughout the night. The van was parked some distance from your tent and as a result the dogs were barking constantly throughout the night. This resulted in other campers complaining to our staff team about the disturbance. We raised the issue with you several times. The person who you describe as our friend was actually a member of our team our campsite warden who lives on site. She was having to deal with other campers complaining about your dogs and despite several interventions you didn't seem to be taking the issue seriously. Feel it only reasonable for us to ask you to keep the dogs with you rather than leaving them in distress barking through the night.

Verified reviewThe facilities were excellent. The soft play bus amazing for the children especially in the rain! The children had an incredible time! Bell tents had proper power supplies and a kettle which was a nice touch. Beds were really comfortable and excellent bed linen. Like being in a hotel! The pub was also really super with a great menu.
Nothing at all!

Verified reviewShepherd hut was beautiful & the welcome fresh bread , biscuits & Prosecco was delightful. They made excellent use of the place , very cosy !
Access to the hut was awful , I appreciate you can’t help the wet weather we’ve been having but some prior warning that we had to walk through a bog would have been helpful ! ( we turned up in white trainers !!!) They had decking waiting to be put down but that didn’t help us , we also had our dog with us ( a Shih Tzu) who unfortunately can’t be picked up up at the moment .
