The sink did not drain properly, probably needs some draino putting down it. I’d have liked a decaf coffee or tea in the room. We didn’t know what to do with the key when we left, which was very early morning before reception opened.

Good location and enough parking easy check in clean and cool.

Our room door was very heavy to open. I was fortunate that my husband was with me as I found it very hard to open without help. Also the door stop behind the door made it impossible to open the door enough to get in whilst holding my luggage. If I had been in my wheelchair I wouldn't have been able to get in the room. The hotel was undergoing some refurbishment (nice to know that it is upgrading), but things like wobbly breakfast tables due to missing or loose screws.

The staff were friendly and accommodating. Whenever I needed assistance with something they were happy to help. For example, we ordered a takeaway from a local restaurant, and the hotel happily let us use their plates and cutlery to eat.

Bed wasn't overly comfortable. While it was close to the sports ground, it was a bit of a walk to the town centre and it involved walking through tunnels under a roundabout. Might be better to get a taxi back if out in the town centre for the night.

I was there for a sports game for one night only. It is very close to Rodney Parade ground. The building was nearing the end of a renovation. The room was clean and modern. The en suite was new and the shower was decent.

    - Cigarette fumes were seeping into property from somewhere. - Saw cheaper price on another accommodation portal, but staff member never matched. - Mattress condition poorly as springs pressing.

    - Location is approx 15mins walk from Newport city centre. - Easy to find, on main road. - Size of room was great. - general layout and facilities for price great.

I was not told beforehand that I had to check in at 'Gateway' Hotel a few doors down and I had to phone reception from outside 'The Gateway Express' Hotel. I've been boycotting "Nestle" products for 31 years now, because of the ongoing baby milk powder scandal and only "Nescafe" was available in the room. A fluorescent tube light was flashing and needed replacing. I wrote a note to reception asking for this to be done. A fire door just inside front door of hotel was wedged open when I first went into the hotel, but it didn't happen again during my stay.

The room was modern, fairly stylish and clean. The facilities were good. The bed was very comfortable and it was quiet. I liked the heated towel rail in the shower room/toilet. Adequate fire doors, extinguishers, etc., evident.

I like the hotel as this is the second time I've stayed there. My very first visit I had a ground floor room that's was amazing but this stay I was in upstairs room an it wasn't as comfortable as my very first stay

I like the fact that Newport town centre is close by

There were a few things. The back of the bathroom door has a hole in it. A broken blind, couldn’t keep the blinds up, couldn’t close the one of the windows and had to force the entrance door to our room

The bed was comfortable and we can do stuff to keep ourselves busy

furniture dated and slightly broken but again can't really complain for the price we paid.

The room was big, clean bathroom. Couldn't fault for the price was paid as this was a stop hotel for Manchester.

    - bed was very uncomfy, you could feel every spring. - room was in need of some love. Lots of patched up holes, and unpatched holes. - reception isn't open at checkout. Luckily someone was gardening and let us in. You then leave your key card in what looks like a very run down dining area.

    - large driveway and was able to leave car there before checking in. - close to where we wanted to go. - key card entry was nice, and able to get one each

I was not overly keen on being able to smell cigarette smoke which I think was due to people smoking outside and the fumes rising... Just one of those things....

All was fine except I repeatedly banged my head on the sloping ceiling. My single room was in the attic and was comfortable. There was only one bulb between the 2 bedside lamps and had I moved the bulb, I probably would not have banged my head at least 3 times......

Window above bay was open and difficult to reach to close. One or two minor maintenance issues.

The receptionist was very helpful and accommodating. The room was spacious and well kept. Facilities were fine and easy access from the city centre by walk.
