Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomDogs not allowed in restaurant but they are allowed in the bar so not really a problem but would have been nice to sit in the restaurant with dog as restaurant was brighter.
Very helpful friendly staff

United Statessink in my room was very small and made it difficult to do simple things. The room I booked for my brother mentioned a king size bed and it was not. His room was nice but not what we expected.
Breakfast and dinners were lovely, and the setting of the inn is just beautiful. Staff was helpful and friendly and we enjoyed our stay very much.

NorwayThe road to drive there is not great, but just take your time and it will be fine.
The location is amazing and the scenery is incredible. The rooms were very nice and spacious. Both the restaurant and the breakfast was good.

United KingdomCommunication can be improved. Glen Clova is in a poor signal area for Wi-Fi. I could only communicate with my family via WhatsApp and email. My room (Dreish) did not have a landline telephone. My mobile has Wi-Fi assist but not Wi-Fi Calling which the staff use. Also on 7/9/2024 I was attending the Braemar Games which is a 2 hour drive from the hotel. I had booked myself in for dinner but the staff had said to ring the hotel if I wasn’t going to be back in time. I rang the hotel several times and nobody answered! The hotel was fully booked for dinner that evening including my table but the staff were too busy to answer the telephone! Also I didn’t realise when booking through booking.com that my hotel booking did not include breakfast. Something to consider! Also don’t book the Mayer room in the steadying, the room looks out onto containers for the laundry! I didn’t accept that room luckily the Dreish room was available all week. It was in the steading with a view of trees and a glimpse of the mountains in the background.
Excellent breakfast. Excellent location if you want to be in the middle of nowhere. Half hour drive to Kirriemuir the nearest town. Excellent evening meals.

United KingdomThe location is perfect for the stunning hike up to Loch Brandy: you'll find the track a minute or two behind the hotel! The staff were super friendly and helpful with everything, and went out of their way to accommodate my gluten free diet.

New ZealandJust two minor comments: 1. The hydro-electric system was a bit loud from our room - we were expecting a quiet haven in nature. (But it was simply noticeable, definitely not offensive!) 2. Someone came and cleaned our windows (outside) while we were still in the room in the morning which was a bit of a surprise - I'd suggest they leave this job for after checkout time!
We stayed in the modern and warm complex of steading rooms - facilities were great and room had an outlook into the woods. The restaurant/bar was lovely and welcoming. Staff were very helpful in rectifying a small glitch in our payment. Superb location as a base for walks in the glens.

United KingdomNot much wrong - It was August and our steading room was a bit warm - the window is round a corner and didn't open very wide. Not a major issue really! If booking again I would ask for room in the hotel.
Beautiful location and ideal for those wanting to experience walking in the Angus Glens. Very helpful staff and attractive accommodation.

United KingdomThe only thing I didn’t like was that there was a small wall mounted TV in the bar blaring out music on my first night. I found it quite irritating but had my iPad and headphones anyway. The next evening the music was switched off which was brilliant.
A great location although do be aware that you really are in the middle of nowhere. I went to Forfar beforehand to get some fruit and snacks for my walks etc. Pretty much everything else was just wonderful. I loved the peace and quiet in my steading room and all of the staff were excellent.
