Beautiful location with the wonderful addition of watching for badgers after nightfall. We were thrilled to get photos

Our room was nicely and tastefully refurbished but some parts of the hotel corridors were in a poor state of repair. However, we realise this is a work in progress and our room was clean and spacious

Lovely room, great location

They mixed up the arrangement of the rooms. I was a little disappointed when there was no mention of my birthday from them even a word, though I messaged them how excited I was for the holiday for my 50th birthday when I booked. Not that I expected to get anything, but it would been nice if they gave me a greeting.

Badger bar was way overpriced for the room, dinner and breakfast were ok, but not great. Shower had a preset water temperature that was scalding hot and could not be adjusted. Location was great.

Price, food, shower

The room is so clean and big for a family. The furniture is in good condition and quality. It was quiet and I didnt hear any noise from neighbours. The dinner was great too, I could feel that the chef was passionate. The breakfast was ok.

The check in time is 15:00, hope it is flexible if the room is ready.

Great location, exceptional views, comfortable clean room with everything you need. Food was delicious too and fantastic staff.

Main bed was very creaky

Excellent location, fantastic food, brilliant and very welcoming staff. Our room was exceptionally clean and the bed was unbelievably comfortable. P.S. the badgers were super cute. Worth the wait.

Not really, everything was great. Wish we could have stayed for a little longer.

Breakfast was nice.

The evening meal we had. 2 of the 4 meals were very bad so we didn’t eat there again. We had booked several days in advance but when we went down for dinner we were told we only had an hour to eat because they were busy. Not a good start to the holiday! I’ve never experienced that in any restaurant in my life! There often wasn’t anywhere to park. They need to reserve spaces for hotel guests or make it clear that parking is limited. The shower was awful - either freezing or scalding and very weak. The room wasn’t as clean as it should have been. Items were left by previous guests, hairs on one of the towels etc The traffic noise from the road is loud and on a weekend there is a lot of noise from the beer garden which is directly below the bedroom window.

Location

Old and obsolete hotel that needs to be refurbished to host people. Our room was just above the kitchen ducting (extremely noisy)…honestly the price paid is not justified, cleanliness standards are not so high and the service at breakfast was embarrassingly slow and poor

The room was nice clean and comfortable. The staff were great and they'd had a very busy day by all accounts. Shower was good. Food and drink in the pub was lush.

Toilet to sink was a bit snug.

Well located off the main A road but still remarkably quiet from the room in the coach house. A quaint traditional venue with 400 years of history and plenty to see on site. There were a number of local walks from the hotel, plus a spot to sit and watch for badgers. The bar was well stocked, the beer gardens were sunny and relaxing, the breakfast was great, the beds were comfy, the shower was excellent, rooms clean, free parking on site - pretty much faultless and I’ve already recommended this place to a friend. We would definitely return, which says it all!

It’s hard to find much to criticise about the overall experience; if being pedantic the fruit juice served at breakfast could have been fresh rather than the low-end cartoned stuff as this really wasn’t in keeping with the overall quality and attention to detail everywhere else.

Lack of parking space. Feel this should be made clear on property details. Seems parking is also open to public limiting space on busy weekends.

There was a buzzing sound the small single bed all night. Maybe a loose wire.

Perfect location, staff couldn’t do enough for us. Breakfast was lovely and nothing was too much. All the staff were great but especially great with the kids, giving colouring packs to keep them entertained and stopping to chat to them.
