How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe location was excellent. Beautiful building with lovely bedrooms and great attention to detail. Friendly helpful staff. Dinner was really good as was our lovely breakfast. Great central location for exploring the town and surrounding area.
Nothing. Will definitely be back.

Verified reviewIt’s quirkyness and its uniqueness, the way it has been kept to fit in with the history and culture of the old town . The young staff were superb and attentive at all times and the food was great.
The 42 steps to our room might be an issue for some people but we were ok with it.

Verified reviewEverything! I fell completely in love with it. Location: It’s very conveniently located within the Conwy walls, close to all the shops and restaurants. There isn’t parking at the property, but there are many car parks nearby including a long-stay one that is free of charge on weekdays. Design: they did a fantastic job decorating. The front of the house is covered in greenery which makes it super eye-catching, and the outdoor deck area in front of reception is so charming! It makes people excited to check in and stay there. At least part (if not all) of it was converted from an old church, and it’s evident in their gorgeous Hidden Chapel restaurant and the rooms in the adjacent building. I stayed in the Telford room (standard king) which was a top floor room that was decorated to look like a bedroom in a church attic, which it essentially was. Restaurant: the Hidden Chapel restaurant isn’t open every day of the week (except for breakfast for B&B guests only) , but we were lucky and happened to be staying on a day it was open. There was live jazz music too so it was lovely. The food is really good, rather pricey for what you get but very tasty. Facilities: My room (Telford) was really well-appointed despite not having a lot of floor space. I had a small open wardrobe with hangers, a desk and chair, a tv, a mini-fridge, an electric desk fan (VERY much appreciated!) and a set of shelves. There were power sockets and reading lamps on either side of the bed along with surfaces that serve as bedside tables. There was shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel in the bathroom, as well as hand soap and various amenities (cotton buds, cotton pads, ear plugs). My friends stayed in the Lilly room (twin beds) in the next building and it had similar facilities.
I loved everything! The only thing I can imagine being a negative is that it may be difficult for people with mobility issues. Most if not all rooms are only accessible by stairs. The property has at least 3 adjacent buildings which do not interconnect, so my friends and I would have to walk to each other’s building if we needed to get something from the other person. The Telford room has a REALLY cool setup with the ensuite bathroom but it does involve going down then up two very short flights of stairs to go to the bathroom. It’s quirky and fun but not great if you struggle with stairs.

Verified reviewThe location is excellent, right in the centre and 5 minutes walk to the castle. The hotel is an amazing building with the restaurant being in a chapel, which has a real atmosphere. The room was modern and spotlessly clean, small but beautifully formed as they say. Breakfast is preordered and served quickly and efficiently.
There are no negatives about the hotel, just be prepared to walk 5 minutes to/from parking. The hotel is in a little side street and all roads within the town walls are very narrow. Parking is just outside the walls. I would suggest dropping luggage first and getting instructions to the parking. Finding a space is easy

Verified reviewThis is a beautifully appointed hotel/B&B in a fantastic location. The rooms were very tastefully decorated to a high standard and the facilities were exactly what we would want. We were in one of the loft rooms of the Hidden Chapel and the view from the velux windows was truly spectacular, taking in the town, the estuary and the castle in one sweep. Breakfast was very good as were the staff, with excellent service levels. The outside seating area of the bar was very nice indeed on a summer's evening. I've been to Conwy on business several times over the past two years and am gutted that I have only now discovered this cracking little hotel.
Very little to criticise. The decor of the room was only spoilt by the off the shelf "Mind Your Head" sign on one of the beams. As a graphic designer these things always upset me and could have been much more tastefully done in keeping with everything else. The toilet seat wouldn't stay up - again a very minor point and easily resolved. Our only real disappointment was that the menu in the in-room information guide bore no resemblance to the actual menu in the restaurant - we were told it was a sample only but it did not say that in the room.

Verified reviewRoom was superb. Decoration wasn’t to my taste, but that is not an issue with room, more my taste. The hidden Chapel restaurant exceeded my expectations massively. The food was simply excellent and I very much enjoyed the ambiance of the former chapel. The live pianist was a lovely touch.

Verified reviewThe location was perfect for us arriving in Conwy by bicycle and for looking around the heart of the town and its historic buildings. The chapel itself provides a fabulous lounge area, bar and breakfast room. Stunning with gentle music playing this was a superb area to relax. Our bedroom was not big but it was immaculately clean and well presented and had everything we required. Comfy bed. The breakfast was excellent. I think a new staff member was serving our breakfast and she had a very attentive and happy disposition which was a joy.
Everything was fine for us although a covered area for bikes would have been nice had it rained (luckily it was a dry night).

This is feedback only. I was in a ground floor room and the only window that you could open ( to cool the room) was open to potential intruders.
