Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomThe dog next door that barked at you fir walking into the garden every time! The lady was rude . Really shame. Wouldn’t put me off going again . But the dog did scare my autistic child several times!
Loved that we had our own space with our children . Much better than a hotel room

United KingdomWhilst the general location was good, the cottage is on quite a busy road so the front bedroom gets more road noise - it was quiet in the back though. As expected in a cottage maybe, the stairs are very tight - so really challenging for anyone with mobility problems. The bathroom is adequate but again space is limited, with the loo squeezed in quite tightly!
The location was ideal as a base for cycle touring, close to the Kennet & Avon canal and some amazing countryside. The cottage had everything we needed - the kitchen was especially well equipped. It was very close to two pubs and there's a small convenience store in Holt.

United KingdomMaybe, a bit more attention could be given to the cleaning, particularly in the kitchen (fridge and cutlery) and bathroom (shower curtain). However, the rest was okay and it didn't really matter that much as we mostly spent time outside anyway.
The location was perfect, and we loved the cottage in general and appreciated the garden, which was very quiet. Overall, the cottage was comfortable with enough facilities. We arrived much later than expected due to traffic conditions, but the host was really understanding and met me late to give me the keys. The check-out instructions were very clear as well. It was also great to be able to park at the pub's car park.

United KingdomDecor a bit tired but it didn’t impact on our stay.
A lovely little cottage in close proximity to two local pubs and a convenience store. We stayed one night and it was a real blessing to have tea, coffee, sugar and milk available and ready for the following morning.

United KingdomMight just be because the cottages were a bit old, but a few times I struggled to open the door to mine and had to almost kick it open
It was very good value for money, a lot of room and space. Had clear instructions as you walked in. Staff were kind. Was very clean.

United KingdomThere is a lovely open fire but no fire guard or wood, which would of made the stay more cosy.
Location was near to Bath and stonehenge. The pub where you collect the keys is close by where we had a lovely meal and played bingo.

United KingdomBeds in the second bedroom, but I guess they would mostly be occupied by children. Stairs. No outside space. Busy road.
It was a cute little cottage on a very busy road with no outside facilities. The kitchen was very good with all one would need bar a dishwasher. Bathroom is downstairs with a very noisy fan. The stairs are very difficult so I wouldn’t recommend children or elderly staying there. The second bedroom beds I found hard and narrow, but I have a super comfortable bed at home. A pretty cottage for a very short stay.

United KingdomActual information wasn't clear as to where the property was situated. I thought I was staying in Trowbridge, but when I got to the postcode as given on your Booking.com site - I was still an hour away. Nowhere was Holt mentioned & I know I put the postcode into my satnav as your site quoted.
It was self catering.

United StatesThe single bed I slept in could have been more comfortable, because I could feel the springs. Also couldn’t close the door to the back bedroom.
This was not a B and B so no breakfast provided. Didn’t need to use the kitchen facilities so can’t comment on those.

United KingdomSomething to improve - size of the bath towels. Lighting was minimal downstairs. As I had to work in the evening on my laptop, more light would have been useful. Tho I did bring down a bed light.
Great location for me. Easy to find. Easy to collect the keys. Very comfortable, clean and had everything I needed. Used the garden to eat my tea and met one of the neighbours. Loved the decor. Cottage was quiet.

United Kingdom4pm check in, is quite late. Similarly with morning checkout. We thought check out was 11 or 12 midday so surprised when someone came to clean at 10.30am. For the cost per night, which I'd say is pretty high, I'd expect wider standard check in. They did let us stay a little longer to be fair to them Had to fill out covid documents prior to arriving. Perhaps needs to move forward from covid policies (admin and checkout times)
Easy check in Decent size cottage Good location, Holt is a nice quiet town and easy to access Bradford upon Avon and Bath.
