Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

Street parking a little busy
Facilities great. Host lovely. Lovely self contained apartment with kitchen and bathroom. Not far from seafront. 20 min walk.

Some noise from the owner’s side of the house came through. Very busy road about 15 mins walk from the sea at the far end of the prom.
Bright modern and clean and very well equipped.

Nothing really. Only slight criticism was it was hard to get constant water temperature in shower.

The bathroom, although very functional and had everything we needed, was a little snug. Having said that, the abundant towels, face cloths, bath mats etc, were clean and fresh.
A great little place to stay, close to the town centre, with excellent facilities, including a welcome drink and bottled water.

Ian the host was there to greet me and give me a quick overview. Everything was great - comfy bed, fridge with welcome drinks, kitchen area , small garden to sit out front and enjoy the afternoon sunshine.15 minute walk to central seafront at Herne Bay. Bus stop right outside. Perfect!

Nothing - it was perfect for on my one night stopover.
Fantastic host, really welcoming. The room has everything you need, really clean and has all the facilties. A great location, too - ideal for walking to station and shops.

incredible stay! Ian, the host, was super friendly. So many thoughtful touches throughout the property, and it was finished to a high standard. Made me feel very cozy and at home! Also a two minute walk from Tesco which is handy, and only about 10 or so minutes walking to the station too so a great location!

I wish I could have stayed longer. Its such a brilliant place and the host is wonderful
The host was incredible, the property was better than the pictures and had all the essential amenities. Even though we arrived 3 hours later than check in, he was beyond accommodating and also very friendly.

Just a little bit too warm in the room and couldn't turn the radiator down.
Good location. Friendly, helpful welcome. Very clean and comfortable. Little touches such as fruit on the table, biscuits, and wine or beer in the fridge.

Nothing to dislike whatsoever
Ian is an exceptional host, kind, considerate, friendly and goes above and beyond to give you a great stay (even offering to give me a lift to the station!), amazing. The apartment is amazing, decorated to an exceptionally high standard and has its own kitchen, microwave and cooking facilities which is highly welcomed and appreciated. It’s peaceful, it’s a wonderful house and as close to the perfect stay as you could imagine

Everything was wonderful
Wonderful owner,very good and intelligent man,who was very friendly for us.We came very late time, but he kindly showed everything in a room at these time.Also it was simple find adress.Room was very nice and clean.Comfortable bed.Everything,that you need for comfortable stay.Was tea coffee,biscuits.We had very good time and relax.Best wishes and success to owner

Ian the host greeted us and showed us the apartment, he showed us where everything was kept and made us feel very welcome. The apartment was very clean and comfortable and is very close to everything. I would definitely stay there again if visiting Herne Bay.
