Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomOne or two beams were rather low, but a few bumps on the head taught me to be more aware!
The breakfast was everything and more that one could wish for, served by Jane, the friendly host. The location is excellent for all parts of the Lake District, Grange, Cartmel and the Furness Peninsula. The bedroom was large and well furnished. We had interesting conversations with the other guests, including one couple who have been visiting for many years. That speaks for itself.

United KingdomJane was certainly the hostess with the mostest, homemade scones with cream and jam and hot drink on arrival. Hill Crest did not disappoint and we hope to return again. Jane made our visit extra special, as it was for my husbands 60th birthday, balloons and banners in room on our return from day out. Hill Crest is spotlessly clean and you're always made to feel welcome

We stayed on Valentine's Day and what a lovely surprise when Jane showed us to our room! Heart shaped red balloons on the bed as well as a little garland of hearts strung abobve the bed and a dish full of lovely chocolates. Totally unexpected, but really lovely! We also appreciated the lovely scones on arrival and the home baked flap jack the following night! Little touches, but really set this guest house apart. The breaKfast was excellent - plenty of choice - fresh fruit, granola, yogurt and choice of a cooked breakfast, again with plenty of choice including smoked salmon which was lovely and fruit juice, toast, tea, coffee etc. Everywhere was spotlessly clean. Jane was a super host, very friendly and chatty and I wouldn't hesitate in staying thee again!

United KingdomNothing to dislike just perfect
Upon arriving we was greated by Jane and made to feel very welcome and then shown to our lovely and clean large bedroom where there was a few surprises(freshly made tea and scones, chocolates, tea, coffee, bottled water and even love heart balloons for valentines day)in the room there was everything you'd want and more fresh soft towels, fresh dressing gowns and slippers,tv,mini fridge and a very comfy bed.The breakfast was very nice and freshly cooked with juice, tea or coffee. The area in which its situated is perfect for a very peaceful and relaxing break with off road parking . So as a whole our 2 night stay was just perfect as we didn't know what to expect as not stayed in a bed and breakfast before only hotels but hillcrest country guest house was far more better than any hotel as more personal. Thankyou again Jane for our lovely stay in your beautiful guest house

United KingdomOur room was overlooking the landscape, stunning. Waking up to the beautiful scenery daily was like the breath of fresh air. It is still lingering after 5 days of being home. Falling asleep as your head touches the pillow is what a holiday should be like. A comfortable sleep. Having a mini fridge in our room was a plus.5☆, and having bottles of water every day reminded us to keep hydrated. Our hostess Jane was very lovely with a wealth of knowledge of the places to visit and attentive to our needs. The breakfast was amazing. You were spoilt for choice with various selections. Full english breakfast can be done bespoke too. Please don't scroll past Hill Crest Country Guest House. You'd be missing out!

United KingdomAbsolutely nothing!
We had such a comfortable and friendly stay at Hill Crest Country Guest House, a place that provides so much more than the sum of its parts. Our room was clean, cosy, well equipped and with our own lounge area to extend into. A perfect blend of privacy and belonging, with wonderful touches of flapjacks and cakes to enjoy. There were many breakfast options, all promptly and freshly made each morning after choosing ahead. Jane thinks of everything to make a stay comfortable, including welcoming family staying nearby, and providing helpful insights and knowledge on places to go and see. The B&B is five minutes drive from the southern end of Windermere, but with many local charms including river walks and the Steam Railway. A perfect location to base your time in the Lake District. We would not hesitate to stay again and wholeheartedly recommend.
