Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IrelandI was on the top floor so had to climb up 6 flights of stairs as there was no elevator. Staff kindly brought up my luggage. Stayed there during the London heatwave unfortunately so I was showering twice a day. The control for the water temperature in the shower was a bit dramatic. It gets suddenly very hot/cold with small movements of the knob. Hard to control and water pressure wasn’t the best. No a/c, just a table fan but it actually worked fine to cool the room and myself. Wifi was very patchy, ended up having to use my data on roaming most of the time
Clean room on the smaller side in a quiet area and located between Paddington and Bayswater station. Clean linens and towels daily. Big leafy trees in front of window which i like because of the added privacy. Black out curtains work well enough

KenyaBreakfast could have had more variety i.e. the only protein in the menu was boiled eggs. No scrambled, fried, omelette, no sausages/bacon. The building also didnt have a lift, not a problem for me but those in not good health will find it challenging
I liked the Location in Notting Hill. The single room was small but ok. The work desk was not stable.

United KingdomThe stairs are really steep, especially if you are on the 4th floor. We knew there wasn't a lift, but won't be staying again unless we can book a room not on the 3rd or 4th floors. My husband informed a member of staff about a broken handrail on the stairs as you reached the 3rd floor. He was told they were waiting for maintenance. This was a poor excuse as the rail is very wobbly, and if someone didn't realise and assumed it was going to hold their weight, there could be a very nasty accident. It is a very real health and safety issue in our opinion.
Very clean room, including the bathroom. Two fans were provided as it was a very hot day. We arrived early to leave our suitcase. When we arrived back later, our case had been taken to our room which was a nice touch. The location was great; far enough away from the West End not to be too crowded, but busy enough for there to be a nice vibe.

South AfricaWe had booked a family room; on arrival we were told that it was not available. We would need to wait 2-3 days. When after 2 days we went to enquire we were told that this is London and that we get what we get. I find this unacceptable, if the hotel knows what the guest has requested in advance and payment was made before the guest's arrival surely it is the responsibility of the hotel to ensure that they are prepared. This did not just happen to us, it also happened to a Family checking in before us. Makes you wonder if they do have any Family Rooms at the Hotel or are they just selling Family rooms to fill the hotel. When travelling with small children, this becomes a problem.
We loved the location, and it was within easy walking distance to the tube station. The rooms and bathrooms were clean.

PortugalThe pressure of the water was a little bit low, but you can take a shower easily, and sometimes would turn cold when the shower was set for hot water. I would like to inform that we didn’t catch wi-fi from our room.
It is placed in a quiet environment, no sounds were heard from other rooms and the employees were very polite and friendly with us.

United KingdomThe flights of stairs to get to our room was a bit too much, especially after a long day of walking. Had we of been ground floor I would’ve given this 10/10. Honestly couldn’t fault the place. If you have struggled with stairs definitely request a ground floor room.
The hotel was great and in a good location. Hotel staff are lovely. Room was all we needed. Fan and fridge were a bonus. Clean room and comfy beds.

NorwayThe next day, they had installed a hatch in the ceiling, and the leak had spread to multiple different spots in the ceiling. After reporting this, we were told it would be fixed, and for a second time it was not. We had to inquire about a different room, and the male receptionist in charge agreed in a very dismissive and annoyed manner. We got another, smaller room with a smaller bed, and got told it was okay because the receptionist had initially upgraded our room on account of our prolonged stay without our knowing, making it okay to downgrade our room and the experience. In our new room we faced challenges such as bad water pressure, times when there was no water at all, making it impossible to flush or wash our hands (no notice given btw), and sudden bursts of scalding water and freezing water while in the shower.
The stay started off nice, we had a great room for two with a view, it was very hot, but we had been supplied with a fan to help the heat, which was nice. A couple days into our stay, the ceiling in the bathroom started leaking, dripping right into the toilet, making it difficult to use it. We reported it and was told it would be fixed the next day. The female concierge was very helpful and brought our moods up every time we talked to her, and she did the absolute best she could!

United KingdomNo lift! We had to walk up nearly 80 stairs, which was hard work.
It was a good location for events at Hyde Park, the hotel was clean and had reasonably good facilities, including continental breakfast. The bed was very comfortable. The temperature in London was 30° and although there was no air conditioning, we were provided with two fans which did the job. We found the staff to be friendly and helpful.

United KingdomThe room was clean and tidy, though it could have done with air conditioning as we experienced one of the UK's rare 30+ degree heatwaves. But the staff arranged a Fan to help with our comfort which worked well considering the weather. Thank you. The bathroom was cramped, however if it had been planned better it would have been more comfortable to use. The Basin was fitted too low and too close to the WC, my knee hit the underside of the basin when using the WC. If the Bi-fold shower door opened from the left and not right, the basin could have been fitted more to the left giving more clearance to get in the shower, and also to use the WC. The glass shelf over the basin was a hazard when trying to splash my face as I could have easliy headbutted the shelf. But other than that it didn't spoil our stay. I hope my comments don't come across as too picky, but I have been designing Bathroom and Kitchens for over 48years, only recently retired, I still need to learn to switch off the work brain. Thanks folks we had a lovely stay..
The staff were absolutely first class and very friendly right from when we first arrived and upto our departure. Thank you.

United KingdomTight staircase, narrow when carrying luggage to the 4th floor as there’s no lift. Not really the hotels fault but there was quite a lot of noise outside the hotel each morning. Also this is the only hotel I’ve ever stayed in the UK where photo ID was required for both of us when checking in.

AustraliaVery small and cramped, no room for luggage. Tiny shower and the stairs 4 flights to the second floor! Also not much help from reception staff on check in, not very welcoming and no offer of help, but the other two receptionists thereafter we could not fault. No air con and the pedestal fan took space we didn’t have. No hot water and no phone on room so had to run up and down stairs to ask for boiler to be turned on.
