There seemed to be a purgent smell as soon as you come out of the Hotel. Not sure if there is a farm around but the Hotel facilities itself is well looked after, clean and very tidy.

We had to pay £8 for parking which was annoying as it didn't mention this when we booked. You normally expect parking to be free if you stay at a hotel. At breakfast there was some mould on the chocolate muffins, but when I mentioned this to a staff member they were all removed from the display. It was very small and barely noticeable, so easily overlooked, but I guess they had been stored for a while!

The room was spacious and comfortable, with all amenities provided. I was really glad that our request for a room not too far from reception was received and accepted. For once we had a room that wasn't at the far end of a corridor. The breakfast was varied and tasty, food being refreshed constantly as the room was busy but we didn't need to queue for anything. It was well located, just off the motorway and easy to get to. There was plenty of parking, including disabled spaces. We were on the ground floor as requested, due to disabilities. Check in was swift and easy.

The room was hit even with the window open and one of the spot lights in the room was flickering (I forgot to mention this when checking out, room 108) however it didn’t affect us as we only used the room to sleep.

The property was clean and tidy. The rooms had everything you might need, including an iron and kettle. Property is accessible to Uber which we used to get to Colchester Castle Park.

Information about room service should be given at check in. Our room wasn't made up and I was alerted to the small print in a card in the room. Sorry, but I don't have time to read all the cards in the room.

We had problems with the electrics in our room but a technician came up and fixed it immediately.

The location was good staff very friendly and helpful but the breakfast was not good bacon cooked too much no fried eggs only scrambled and sausage cooked too much everything else was good

Need some hooks on the bathroom door or in the room - you ask us to reuse towels but give us nowhere to hang them to dry after having a shower. Disappointed that the patio has become the smoking area. Therefore there is nowhere for non-smokers to sit outside, relax and enjoy a drink. Could a smaller smoking area be provided elsewhere, away from the patio, returning it to its intended use.

Excellent food, both breakfast and dinner, very well presented. Quiet despite being near a major dual carriageway.

Had not realised that it was paid parking at the hotel, my slip. Sadly had to return our fish and chips supper, spoilt the evening for us as we had to go outside.

Identical room to other HIE rooms we have used recently - comfortable. This one located ideally for the A12. Very pleasant staff, helped with recommendations and directions. Breakfast buffet was very good each day, we really enjoyed our start to the day.

No complaints from me!

Great value for money, staff were very pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was particularly good value, and it's a very handy location, though perhaps less easy if you don't have your own transport. Also, I personally enjoyed having morning coffee with the large, friendly ginger cat, though I respect this probably cannot be guaranteed and also not to everyone's taste.

Needs longer breakfast time extended as too early and updated tvs. ( although staff told me its waiting to be upto dated). lovely room but needed bit more space.

The staff warm and friendly and helpful. My son was happy and space was good, as my son is on the autistic spectrum he felt welcome and safe. had gluten free food which was brilliant although more variety would be good. good breakfast within price . which is brillant.

The resteraunt was having staffing issues on the night, but the management was very polite and was able to remain responsive and professional about the waiting time. In the end, the meal was a good pub food meal. We had the house burgers and the Vegan burger

There was some confusion on check-in as we had booked three rooms with a total of six beds and were offered three rooms with five beds that did not meet our requirements. This was rectified after some discussion. Dirty socks in the bathroom of one room and Dirty towels in another. I'm not sure why parking is not included in the price.

Location suited our needs. Rooms were a good size. Breakfast included some gluten free items which was appreciated.

Double bed was too small like a large single bed so sleep was not the best. The WiFi was very poor often not working and closing mid search.
