Some parts of the hotel could do with refreshing, the windows could do with cleaning

Found the room clean and comfortable, hotel has its own car park, buffet breakfast and bar meals quite good, good location.

Bar staff were rude. Evening restaurant staff were poor. We were placed at a table where restaurant staff kept brushing past us. Staff did not smile or engage with us. Not a pleasant evening would not eat there again.

Night duty and reception staff were friendly and extremely helpful. Very happy with service. The room was clean and comfortable, and the location was good.

Inside of bath dirty which was a shame as I was looking forward to a nice soak. Looks like it needs a good scrub not cleaned properly in a while

Hotel could do with updating. Also I checked that there was air conditioning when we booked and was assured there was, unfortunately this was incorrect.

Hotel was ideally placed for us, was clean and there was a little gift left for us in each of the rooms. Personal touch. Beds were comfortable. Staff were all very friendly and helpful, and made us feel very welcome.

Rooms were a bit tired but comfortable. Could have done with a small fridge in the rooms.

Service wasn't amazing, they were busy but still a bit lacklustre & slow. Food was only ok. Perhaps a little dated.

We stayed in the heatwave, and there was only one very ineffective fan which made no difference to the room. But it is fair to point out that it was an exceptionally hot day/evening and everywhere was probably the same. However, the fan was hopeless even when sat right beside it.

Only one small bar, which is fine when the hotel is quiet, but it holds wedding functions and can get very busy as hotel guests use the same bar/lounge area as wedding guests. Be aware to book a time for dinner and breakfast to be sure of your dining times, particularly dinner as they like to stagger dining times.

Used the location for an overnight stay as it was within an hour of Le Shuttle at Folkestone. Good-size carpark and nice rooms. Did not have a good stay on our trip up due to a big wedding party and a disco in the function room next door to our room! The return trip was far better, with no wedding functions and an upgrade to a lovely Premier room. Food is good on the dinner menu - the salmon was lovely- and the breakfast more than adequate - just watch to book a time slot and avoid busy times.

The room was very hot and the electric fan provided, not very adequate for cooling the room. A fridge in the room would be a really helpful addition.

Mina on reception was very warm, welcoming & helpful. The Mercure was in a great central location for our stay.

The place is run down and needs some attention. Wouldn't take much, just clean and paint windows...and replace awful plastic plants for real ones. Whole place needs an overhaul.
