How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The hotel is still being refurbished and although a lot has been done already, there is still a lot of work ahead.

Verified reviewit is a working progress, was not happy when arrived, our room was pleasant clean and tidy, happy. the building its self is awful. good story as to why it is the way it is. new owner and he is working on the building, the garden was nice had a great view looking out to the sea, did have a swimming pool but the owner said this is on the to do list. it is a good looking pool and will look great. Our room was nice . you would be somewhat shocked of the outside, but in side it is quite quirky. Great views. It was a good location for us, we are out most of the day. overall it was a good place to stay, room was good, outside will shock you and you will think what have we booked. the views of the sea are the selling point. we did not have the breakfast but there was a good coffee machine, New sitting in the garden,
outside of the building is a shock, it is a working progress the new owner informed us. You could see there was a lot of work to be done, You could see it was the ugly building along the road, not the best. did ask for a sea view, we had a sea view, but it was a side view, and had to see to listen to the kitchen air vents, This came on about 8am. At the top of the building lots of stairs, no lift.

Verified reviewOwner was lovely he couldn’t do more for us. Friendly face and lovely breakfast! We had the suite apartment and worked well for us. Was quirky but we liked that not modern. Provided with toilettes and tea, coffee and biscuits!

Well James this didn’t surprise me to read this review and see the pictures firstly you didn’t walk out as you never walked in well you made the front desk you booked the cheapest option that’s non refundable you didn’t view the room were rude at the reception i did ask you to view the room which you refused the review is written to try to damage my business firstly dirty well maybe you should argue that with the environmental health officer who scored us a 5 the top score for health and hygiene just two weeks ago and to state a fire hazard have you xray eyes or some unnatural powers as we have new fire alarm risk assessments and new extinguishers im even more fascinated by the pictures especially of the garden that has been completely re modelled but you choose to show disconnected cables that are being replaced for the new lights and the back of the stage in the bar area all from outside you were welcome to get some better shots from inside you only have to ask perhaps next time you book a hotel try the ritz or something five star but I think that is above you pay grade Steve

Verified reviewStephen was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was a good continental selection followed by cooked breakfast, nice coffee machine. View from the room was superb and location was brilliant for the very short walk to town/beach. Accomodated a dietry need at breakfast and some lovely quirky features in the hotel.
The hotel is generally shabby on the outside and old fashioned inside..BUT, I believe it is all being renovated and I think this is reflected in the price we paid. There is so much potential with this hotel and I sincerely hope it reaches it as it has a lovely location and huge potential to be something rather special! There are function rooms, not currently used or at potential which is a shame as the town is quiet and some nightlife at the hotel (bar, tv , music, decent pool table - ie, level and with new cues and better lighting) would be welcome. But as a base, it is adequate and Stephen and the breakfast are great! Bedroom itself was clean, mini fridge a nice bonus and the standing fan! The hotel does not have the pavement appeal of its neighbours but it really does have the potential to be a special hotel with such a superb location and size of function rooms and maybe even getting the swimming pool up and running!
