Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe rooms themselves are quite spartan — the essentials are all there but don’t expect more than that.
Excellent location just off the motorway. Self check-in means it’s fine to arrive late. EV charging is available right next to the guest rooms (7kW, you’ll need the Amp app and your own cable). There’s a well-stocked convenience store on campus a few minutes’ walk away.

United KingdomBedside light did not work and the shower did not drain away so had to be ridiculously quick, which was not very satisfactory at all - had to keep turning water off whilst getting cold! Used email address to inform uni accom people on 1 August but no reply!
Breakfast was very good with very pleasant staff. Swift service and opened promptly. Rooms were close to where we were able to park fortunately as was a lot of areas closed due to works going on. Location of accommodation was very good for us too.

United KingdomI was offered the opportunity to pay extra for a room upgrade, which I did. The money was taken but no upgrade was forthcoming. The price for a single room compared to a double is disproportionate as it is, so not getting the upgrade did come as a disappointment.
The breakfast was of good quality and the staff were lovely. I was made very welcome throughout my stay

United KingdomClearly dated interiors, ongoing building work, lack of free parking (despite main car parks being empty most of the time), rats - we saw several outside.
Excellent breakfast, good location.

United KingdomMy second time staying and I think the quality has dropped a little. I was given the same room I had around a year ago - the shower was still slow draining so it backs up. The entrance hall had a bad damp smell as if there had been a significant leak. Given it was out of term time, the Uni was undergoing a lot of works and bus connections to Lancaster were not signposted and pretty irregular. Not much difference in price compared to City offerings now.
Rooms themselves are functional and basic. The breakfast offering is good and i liked that there were veggie options. Quiet location and the Uni's rewilding looks really nice in the summer. Easy to access the accommodation. Despite being summer break, there were still some shops/cafes were open on the campus nearby.

United KingdomThis was student accommodation and so you have a good sense of what you will get but, having said that, the bathroom could have been kept cleaner and (despite leaving the sign on our door requesting this) it would have been nice to have had our coffee point replenished. These are small, easy things to fix, but would have made a difference to our experience. Breakfast is canteen style which means that, whilst it was fine, the food was never piping hot.
We wanted something cheap and convenient for an event at the University so this was an ideal location in that we could walk each day.

United KingdomI thought the bed was a bit low down and the single mattress a bit too soft.
I was very impressed by people I met on the Campus whilst finding my way about. There was a road closure where I expected to go(Underpass) but I managed with help from staff to go to and enter my room and was thankful. The breakfast wqas excellent and the bus service to and from lancaster was first class.

United KingdomInfo and signage on location of car oark B and charging for parking was very unclear. On line maps were small print and uninformative. In the end car oark c was closer and close reading of the signs revealed free at weekends. There was no signage to The Marketplace for breakfast. Basic information on the room on location and opening times of shops, reception, etc with a simple map would help enormously. I found the shops too late for milk, which had run out, so had to drive to a oetrol station before 7am to get milk for a morning cuppa.
Room was clean. Bed was comfortable Parking in the end was nearby despite unclear information

NetherlandsThe carpets were not very clean (mostly hair and dust) and the shower is very small. The water will not drain very quickly so you need to be aware of the water rising and maybe entering the room.
Breakfast was good. I was a bit confused on how i could get the breakfast at the cafeteria, but the people there were very nice and explained. The people at the front desk were also very helpful, giving clear directions on how to get to your room. The rooms are small but the desk is really nice, so you can get some work done if needed.

United KingdomThis is the only Booking.com property where one has to pay for parking. To make matters worse, the parking charge is payable only by app, a system open to all kinds of abuse. LU really should rethink charging their paying guests for parking.

United KingdomThe mattress on the bed was awful - all over it, you could feel the individual springs poking up - honestly the worst bed I have ever slept on. I actually tried to turn the mattress over, it was so uncomfortable. Such a shame as the room, location and breakfast were perfect but I could not believe how bad the mattress was, I am surprised it would pass any sort of official inspection.
