How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewGreat location on the way back to Edinburgh. Nice pub just round the corner too. Bathrooms and room is large and the bed was nice and comfy.

Verified reviewGreat location along pleasant promenade in quiet village. Parking easy
Room was on 2nd floor in roof space, 1 wall at 45 degrees. Under the slope are 2 padded 'benches' suitable for a small child, NOT for adults without sitting leaning forwards in very uncomfortable position - to describe this as a "seating area" as it does, is totally misleading

Verified reviewCoorie was the first stop on our holiday and it really lived up to the expectation. Our room was very cozy, and the bed was comfortable. The wifi was also working nicely, and the accommodation is right by the water. There are really nice areas nearby to walk around, and it's located close to many bigger towns around where you can do shopping or go to restaurants - even Edinburgh is only a ~40-45 minute drive from there. Their restaurant is also very high quality and it's worth a try!
Not so much as a didn't like, but our back window was facing the back of the building - which was pretty much just pipes and a chimney (or something like that). It's also situated right next to a slope, so looking out we could only see the ground - not much of a sight. Then again, this is very nitpicky, and if you just leave the building, then you have fantastic views. Also there is some floor heating in the bathroom, but that was not working during the summer. Not really an issue, but it was not documented in the welcome guide and had to ask about it.

Verified reviewWhat a wonderful place to stay. The Coorie is clean, modern and quiet and the cafe is great. Limekilns is a beautiful village and it's great for a walk along the coast. We had dinner in one of the local pubs and that was excellent, too.

Verified reviewPerfect stay. Staff were so warm and friendly. The room had everything we needed and was spotless. Value for money was outstanding. The scones in the cafe were amazing! Thank you all for making our stay so special.
The stairs could be a challenge with luggage but the staff helped us out, which we appreciated very much.

Verified reviewWe absolutely loved Coorie by the Coast! We stayed in Room 1 and it was fitted out beautifully. It had everything we needed and included lovely little touches like caramel wafers, drinks coasters, etc. and even a £5 discount voucher to use in the cafe/restaurant! We were welcomed so warmly by Eileidh who made us feel at home and treated us like honoured guests! The cafe is superb - in addition to the "normal" food, they offer a huge range of items that are gluten free, vegetarian or vegan. Everything is sourced locally and you can tell this by the freshness and quality of the food.
Nothing! We were initially worried about where to park but it was never an issue - we parked right outside Coorie every day.
Hi, we are delighted you enjoyed your stay with us. Team Coorie.

Verified reviewA very nice, small B&B above a cafe, this was a perfect spot by the coast. The room was great, cafe had a lovely breakfast in the morning and delicious treats in the afternoon. The town of Limekilns is small and cute. I was able to quickly drive to Dumfermline to see the palace and museum.
Only one dinner option in town, which was good, Bruce Arms, but the kitchen was only open 5-7:30, so take note. The Coorie cafe closes at 4:30. The other pub I was was closed M-Tue.

Verified reviewCoorie is in a lovely location just accross the road from a small harbour. Large comfortable room, big double bed and large shower. The cafe has the most comprehensive free to access cycle tool station outside. It includes pedal spanner and chain breaker tool!
I wish I had had time to have breakfast in the nice looking cafe downstairs. Unfortunately I had to leave just before 8, the opening time.
Hi David, maybe we can tempt you with breakfast next time!! Team Coorie
