Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Other quests quite noisy esp some lady downstairs talking very loud at 4am although not hotels fault I know.. Ensuite could of been a little cleaner as partner said it smelt in there.
Location was great for us right opposite railway station. Hotel room was clean & had fridge microwave etc.. Parking was ok but was on a first come first served basis with some on road parking outside.. Handy Co op next door & a pub too .. Short walk into town.. Was made to feel welcome.

A few things could do with a bit of attention ie there was no lampshade on the centre light in one room. The curtains in the other room were tricky to open and shut.
The two rooms we had were very clean and comfortable. The lady who let us into our rooms was very friendly and helpful. The location was perfect as we wanted to go on the Hythe railway. Also short distance to the beach.

A price reduction would have been a good start.
The room I booked had an ensuite toilet, kitchenette and street side view. Due to a scheduling problem (over booking) the room I got was in the basement with a view of the parking lot, no bath room, or kitchenette. For my inconvenience the host offered to buy me a beer. I took the room but would not stay again.

Only one tiny thing- the bathroom sink was not super clean- perhaps cleaned in a hurry. But the rest of the room was so clean and comfortable
Everything! Comfortable, clean, can really tell that it’s family run and that people work hard to make sure everything is nice for guests.

Just small things really. The shared lounge looked a bit tired. Not much kitchen equipment in the room, apart from eating cutlery. Fortunately I always take a couple of my own knives to cut up fruit for breakfast. A chopping/bread board would be useful. Ditto the shared kitchen , we couldn't find a lid for a saucepan, had to use a plate.. No towel rail in the bathroom.
It was good to check in early, Josephine was very helpful and friendly. The location was perfect for our needs with the little railway just across the road. It was a busy road but our room was at the back so it was nice and quiet. It was a large room with two double beds. Very clean and comfortable beds

Shower was a bit cramped with not great water pressure, but adequate nevertheless.
Quality of accommodation better than expected for the price point. Handy location for local attractions and amenities, off street parking, bright and comfortable room, straight forward check in procedure with proprietors responsive via chat for any issues or questions.

Perfect location for Romney Hythe and Dymchurch Railway, also walking distance to sea. We didn't use the communal kitchen or lounge but the kitchenette in our room was ideal.

the hotel is studio set up with sink , fridge and microwave in the room and use of a full kitchen downstairs, good pub next door. take aways within 2 minute walk. we have stayed before and i am sure we will again.

Helpful host. Free private parking available in front of the hotel. Room equipped with kitchenette. Pizza and fish&chips 100m from the hotel. Grocery store in next building. It was a good overnight stay during our South-England motorcycle trip.
