    Nothing to say.

I visited here for a ghost hunt. I liked the fact that I was staying at the place where we were doing our investigation and that I didn't have to travel anywhere afterwards. The room was what I expected. The kitchen facilities were good and the showers were good. It was just very cold.

No staff on site when I arrived, actually no-one at all seemed to be there, place in total darkness and no way in. I phoned the number and 10 minutes later the manager phoned back, he was away elsewhere on business! However he was very helpful and remotely guided me through the courtyard, through the security keypad to get into the building, and explained where my bunkroom and the kitchen and showers etc could be found. He told me there was one other guest staying but I didn't see or hear any sign of them all evening, night not the next morning. As far as I could tell I was the only person in the whole building - which actually added to the character and didn't bother me, although I can imagine some people might find it weird/spooky/disconcerting! It wasn't the most comfortable bunk bed I've ever slept on, and the place is a little tired and shabby, and could do with a really good clean and ideally some redecorating. But it provided what I needed, everything worked and it was cheap! Against all this, it's worth remembering that the workhouse is owned/managed by a charity/trust who probably have very limited funds and resources, and they're providing good value, very basic hostel-type accommodation for people like me who I guess/hope are not expecting luxury and are happy to take it and enjoy it for what it is.

Characterful old building in a location which suited my walking route. Provided me with a bed, shower and toilet for the night which is all I needed.

A little bit more thought needs to be given to internal layout (can other external doors be used to get to the kitchen to avoid using male dormitory? maybe a divider in male dormitory to separate common room? and route to kitchen?I didnt use the kitchen as you had to go through the male dormitory and the common room was in the male dormitor, toilets abd showers were unisex, shower door had a 2 inch gap!(but the shower was nice and hot. I had a shower before the male guest arrived.) worth a visit just be aware of these things

The building was full of history which I found fascinating, Outside was beautiful with a lawn area, a pretty garden area and on Saturday morning the cafe was open and sold lovely food at a great price. I love that it is community run to keep the whole building open and the history alive. A great restoration job.

It seems I should have received a code and instructions for entering the building by email but I didn't (checked spam). Although I arrived before 5.00pm there was nobody at the premises when I arrived and the official number connected only to an answerphone. A friendly local person eventually helped out but I was surprised that nobody seemed aware of my booking.

Great location and an interesting historic place to visit. I was pleased to find a clean and well equipped kitchen and a couple of large comfortable settees. Especially liked the truly old selection of books on the bookshelf. I was the only person in the whole building and had free choice of the best bed 😀

There was no breakfast, and really no staff about. I had the place to myself so that was good. I enjoyed staying in the area, met some nice locals and had a great time up the road on Jazz music night.

Due to a communication failure with booking. com the room was not heated when I came, fine on the second night though.

Having a guided tour of the museum/ workhuse really added to my enjoyment of the stay. I was the only occupnat and enjoyed the peace and quiet.

I cannot lie...it was freezing!!!! The rooms have only electric heaters and I was there in the depths of winter..but there were blankets and I was totally cosy in bed and the super hot shower was heaven after braving the chilly bathroom, good for the circulation!! It was a real experience and I will remember it, come and stay so that the trust can buy more heaters!!

This is such an unusual place to stay, a historic workhouse in lovely countryside and when I got there I was the only guest! So I had the whole place to myself (and I thought it would be creepy - but it wasn't at all and I'm a scaredy cat!!!) If you are on foot like me the bus will drop you right outside (but note there is no service on Sundays) and the village has a great Spar shop for supplies plus a handy launderette and pubs/cafe's. There is a second-hand bookshop at the workhouse too and various events throughout the year, it's a bargain price too so give it a try!

There were no other travellers during my stay - felt slightly isolating on my first day but adjusted during the stay. A work in progress in terms of facilities/services - basic conditions (but you get what you pay for)!

Amazing location/historical building. Very friendly staff & artistic atmosphere. Safe staying as a Solo female traveller. Good value for £ - this Bunkhouse stay has a lot of potential. Has an on-site museum about the history of the Workhouse. Local village is walking distance and has very good facilities in terms of shopping and eating out. Easy access to local walks and visits to Lakes and Llangollen/Welshpool.
