Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

We had an impression that everything is so well maintained. Lounge was full of nice vintage furnitures which added a lot to the atmosphere. Room was clean and spacious. If we come to ayr again we will definitely stay here! The host was really kind too.

United KingdomThroughout the booking process, both with Booking.com and Lochinver Guest House, I received all the information that I needed. Parking is on a lovely tree lined road; you will be given a Parking Permit. The staff are all really welcoming and friendly. There is a lovely traditional guest house feel. It is in a really quiet location. It is very close to the town centre, the bus and train stations and also the beach front. My room was the small double with seperate toilet/shower room. The breakfast is indeed excellent; a varied buffet style and a freshly prepared cooked breakfast menu.

United KingdomIt was clean and lovely, the only improvement I think could be made is having a fridge in the bedroom apart from that it was perfect.

Situated on a quiet tree lined residential street, the guest house is immediately inviting from the outside with fragrant flowers on the path. The entrance is beautiful with thick plush carpet & sweeping staircase. We were greeted by a very friendly man who checked us in & provided us with a map & some information regarding Ayr, where to eat etc. The property is in a perfect location less than 10 mins walk to the centre of Aye & a similar walk to the seafront. The room was almost like a mini suite with a sofa & everything you could possibly need even bathrobes. Fresh milk, cookies, water, filter coffee & lovely toiletries all add to the overall pleasure & the breakfast choice was plentiful & varied. All staff we encountered were very quietly committed to providing excellent service. Would 100% recommend

United KingdomThe rooms were spacious and very clean with large comfortable beds. The breakfast was excellent with quite a range to choose from. Eggs Benedict was excellent. Highly recommended.
The property is a terraced three-floor building with shared lounge complete with grand piano and small library located on the ground floor. It is situated in a leafy street in a quiet part of town (except for the seagulls ).

Location: Excellent for my purposes. As described a "leafy" avenue. Quiet, easy access to Ayr Beach and Coastal Path. Super as a base for Clyde Coast. Room: Excellent use of space. Compact without being cramped. In-room provisioning top notch, Spotlessly clean. Breakfast: Free choice from cereal to "Full Lochinver"

United KingdomSlight issue with on-street parking, not a major thing. Otherwise everything suited my needs to a tee. Wasn't there long enough to enjoy the Parlour with books, a selection of music (inc. Madeleine Peyroux which was playing on arrival) or listening to the baby grand being played.
Older well cared for property, with many character features. Owner (Sinclair) and his staff could not have done more to made me feel welcomed. Proximity to Ayr University Hospital to visit my brother, 5-7 mins by car. Perfect. Top Floor Room was quite small but well presented, with en-suite and very comfortable bed. Lying in bed at night sipping Hot chocolate and Star gazing through the Velux roof window will stay with me for ever. Slept well, and Breakfast a varied and well thought out selection with fruit to go. A veritable feast !
