How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewQuiet, rural location
There was no table at which to eat the diy breakfast. There were no chairs other than a very low corner settee. The parking access was extremely difficult to get out of due mainly to the narrow nature of the access track. The bathroom hand basin drain plug did not allow the basin to hold water due to it being seized open. One of the quadrant shower doors was off it’s lower guide rail. One of the bathroom lights was failed. The smoke detector was placed in the apex of the roof and was activated by use of the toaster after only a minute or so! The doors and windows had to be fully open in order to prevent this happening, not a good prospect in winter. Finally when I put the handbasin problem to the owners they seemed less than enthusiastic about looking into the problems in order to make their clients stay better.
Sorry to hear you were disappointed with your stay. It is clear from the listing photos that there is no dining table provided, and breakfast is not included as part of the booking. The small selection of items you referred to as a “DIY breakfast” was simply a complimentary gesture to make things easier for you if you had arrived without food. We were also concerned that you entered our private property on two occasions during your stay without notice. While we are always happy to assist guests, this did feel like an encroachment on our personal space and is not something we consider acceptable. We wish you the best in your future travels.

Verified reviewThe accommodation was good, in that it was clean, welcoming and finished to a high standard
Three issues: (1) access to the property was quite poor, with a very uneven track, deep potholes, loose bricks and lumps of stone. Also turning vehicle was difficult. (2) Booking.com advertised the property as B & B and reviews commented on "good breakfast". Not sure a pack of crumpets, pint of milk and butter justifies that , although tea and coffee facilities OK. (3) Main gripe is lack of washing up facilities so dirty dishes left for two days, which isn't very hygienic. Couldn't wash or wash up in bathroom basin due to plug being 'locked in open position'. Why?
You messaged a few days before your stay to ask if breakfast was provided - I replied saying it wasn’t so you knew that on arrival. The crumpets are a small gesture. Again that was explained in my message prior to arrival. There is a washing up bowl in the cupboard. It has cloths, tea towels, wipes, fairy liquid etc in it… You could have contacted me at any time during your stay to discuss these matters. I could have then explained there is washing up facilities etc I don’t feel like your review is fair hence the need for my reply

Verified reviewSecluded, peaceful and cozy. Nicely catered for the usual items with butter and condiments also provided. Great bathroom and very comfortable bed. Chirping birds and a homely rural feel.
A few minor details could be improved (hanging space for clothes and the pillows) but certainly nothing that impacted our stay.

Verified reviewAn ideal place for a short stay, it was quiet and peaceful. The host provided fresh milk and crumpets with a choice of jams and spreads which was a welcome touch after a long journey. Very well placed for visiting the many attractions this part of the country has to offer. Meticulously clean with a very comfortable bed.

Verified reviewLovely, cosy, self contained annex with a little private patio area and parking space. It is a sitting room/bedroom/ensuite/mini kitchen all cleverly designed into one space and a lovely place to be. The large bed is supremely comfortable too!! Lots of little extras in the ‘kitchen area’ which were very welcome and much appreciated.
The final short lane to the parking is shared and VERY rutted!! We bottomed our car on the central lump when we arrived but sorted out a strategy to avoid this after we’d had a look in the daylight!! The one step down from the parking to the patio is really quite big and there’s nothing to hold onto!! Admittedly we’re not as young as we used to be!! Neither of these things affected our opinion that this is a lovely place to stay!!

Verified reviewA spacious property, with everything needed to make support a short trip away. Hosts provided basic groceries (bread, milk, butter, etc) which was much appreciated. Property is out of the way and off local roads, so very quiet and relaxing location.
Drive up to the property was quite uneven, and may scrape the underside of vehicle if driver isn’t careful.

Verified reviewBed very comfortable, beautifully decorated, and loved the fact it has a sofa in the room and the outside patio and table chairs was welcomed.
The rubbish wasn’t cleared, and the bin over flowing after 3 days. The breakfast provided wasn’t replenished for the whole 3 days, we didn’t want the bread, but would have wanted more fruit cereal and yoghurts. The driveway to the property definitely needed a four wheel drive vehicle, with the centre of the drive scraping the underneath of our car! Annoying!!

Verified reviewA very attractive, comfortable and clean studio, with everything we could need for our breakfast. There is a private patio, where we enjoyed eating our breakfast.
It was necessary to do a little bit of washing up after our excellent continental breakfasts, but doing so required a bit of improvisation as the only basin was in the bathroom.
