The lift was absolutely tiny could hardly fit the pram in. The room was not clean at all, someone’s dirty socks and tongue bar on the floor and under the bed which wasn’t good as I have a 1 year old who could have touched it.

The entertainment was really good and downstairs was lovely and the staff were funny and well mannered

Breakfast staff were not very organised and needed some training, for the first 5 mins no staff were on hand, bread and milk ran out. Balcony table and chairs need updating.

Room we had was overall good, silver sea view, didn’t disappoint. check in at reception was great, however the online portal was not quick and didn’t really save any time for myself or the reception staff. Breakfast was very good value. Overall staff were excellent and professional. Rooms were clean but minor issues could be seen if you checked closely. Shower was good and hot. Lack of toiletries. tea tray well stocked.

The Reception is at the back of the building and on the lower floor. A sign to make this clear at the front of the building would really help stop confusion. For a family room it was alot smaller than other hotels we have stayed in. Parking - In the self check in information you read it says thay the hotel will keep your keys during the stay which I was hesitant about but when you get there it makes sense - parking is like a jigsaw puzzle so maybe sharing that a member of staff may be moving your car because of this at time of booking would help - transparent is great.

Staff were very friendly and helpful when needed. Room was cleaned on request and that is something we prefer. The breakfasts were great and there was a good choice of foods. Parking was available in a limited space. Location is great. Food in the restaurant was well priced.

Beds too soft, we had to move rooms and the alternative room offered wasn’t as good - less spacious. Clearly some sort of IT admin error as we didn’t get our early check in, then we had to move rooms, then our booking for an evening meal wasn’t on your system and neither was the breakfasts, just made it more stressful than it needed to be. Disappointed with the second room 118 is not as good as 218.

Our room was rather cramped and involved a maze of stairs and corridors to get to it, with view over the backyard. We had to park on the street. There is parking offered but it involves giving your keys to staff and they Jenga the car into a yard with all other cars.

Location was decent on the promenade

The rooms need to be upgraded. The stains on the toilet need addressing. Big crack in the wall and the paintwork requires attention.

When i booked to stay, i informed you about my wife's health issue with eating before lunchtime. The first morning, I asked for a continental breakfast, and what I was offered was alarming. I complained to the front house, and the receptionist said it would be sorted. The second day, I asked again and was told what you see is what you get. Third day, I didn't bother, therefore booked with breakfast included, and my wife missed out on 3 breakfasts.

Rooms:- smaller than advertised, bathroom smaller than advertised, windows still in old creaky frames. Lift/stairs:- No easy disability access e.g. Wheelchair access etc . The lift is very, very small and can only fit 2 people in at a time - maybe 3 with a child. Lots of staircases - although understandable really as the hotel is Victorian. Keys:- This is very tricky. You can take your room key when you are out, coming back you can go to the front door and open it yourself by applying a code (it's on the keyring you are given). Simple fact - sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't so can be a little annoying. There is a doorbell/button, but that wasn't answered. Entrances/Exits:- Easy access on the whole - but be aware of the steep stairs in some places as the building is so quite old.

Staff - Warm and friendly and always happy to help with any questions. Restaurant/bar etc:- Great quality food and drink, great choice, clean, well-presented and fun cocktails. Salon:- Amazing, the therapists are wonderful young ladies. I'm a beauty therapist also and could tell they were well trained and fully qualified. Very friendly and chatty also, and that makes a difference with a client. Location:- Within immediate walking distance to the beach and town centre. Also full of fun activities/games - karaoke, pool, puzzles and an 'Escape' game.

Room wasn't the cleanest it could be. We are pretty easy to please so we didn't worry too much about the small stuff. Didn't really feel like the pictures on the website was a reflection of what we personally got. Felt we may have drawn the short straw with the room we had. Bathroom although recently renovated is tricky to negotiate. Couldnt stand at the toilet due to eve of roof in the way. Pretty inconvenient for a 6ft something guy. Nothing a sit down wee wouldn't solve though!
