A decent hotel with everything at hand, but some attention to detail needed to justify the price.

Check in was a bit shambolic. A notice said to check in at the bar, where they said they had no record of our booking. I went back to the main reception desk, where someone was dealing with a large party booking, and when they had finished with that party, they immediately found our booking and couldn’t have been more helpful, including finding space for our two bikes in a secure cellar. The notice directing people to the bar was still on display. Staff seemed overworked, but the young woman on duty (both in the evening and following morning) was wonderful and saved the day. Some small touches need attention to justify the cost of the stay. For example, the shower screen in the bathroom which didn’t close properly. Breakfast portions were quite small, e.g. scrambled egg (just one egg), and porridge being classed as a main course rather than a starter. And only one teabag per person in the room. We appreciated the comfortable beds and blackout blinds in our room.

Great location with everything at hand within and outside the property.

The room was really hot. It was room 10. I’d avoid it in the height of summer as it could be unbearable.

Location superb. Staff superb. Food and drink fantastic. Room size great. Free parking. Lots to like about this place.

The room was quite noisy and there was a flashing light on the smoked alarm that was right above our bed so it was annoying at night. There was an additional service charge on the room of £23, so the price booking.com charged was different to what the hotel actually charged me.

This was booked for a one night stay and was booked for it's beautiful location so that we were able to walk to everything, have dinner in the pub and breakfast in the morning.

Parking was limited. So had to park on the street for a while. On Saturday a birthday party was a bit noisy but we could eat in the bar area which was much quieter. The party people moved away promptly .

Fantastic position in beautiful Chipping Camden..The staff were very welcoming, and the bedrooms were clean and near each other with chairs in a foyer outside. Excellent breakfasts each morning. We had dinner in the hotel each evening, which we really enjoyed. Good value and good wine, too. We would all stay at the hotel again..

really hot day and our room was extremely hot. windows only opened at the top and didn't give much air into room. I appreciate the building is old and the windows are in keeping.

I liked the reception area, welcoming clean and cool temperature as it was an extremely warm day. the cafe area was very pleasant as was the dining area. room was ok as we had a classic room , clean and comfortable.

Fans needed in rooms as rather hot, quirky rooms have uneven floors which is fine but sleeping would be more comfortable if the beds were levelled . We did pay at booking to upgrade the room but that did not happen which was a shame. All in all if you are given the room you have paid for then a great little hotel

Great location, charming traditional building, very central, parking great and easy, choice of drinks great and reasonably priced.

The whole place was lovely. The room was clean and comfortable but I would say the price is more location based. Small/basic room.

Beautiful location, boutique/bespoke, welcoming hotel. Staff in the restaurant were very friendly - they made a lovely little gesture for my partners birthday when we had dinner in the restaurant.

The windows were not fully sealed so there was some noise from outside. We also felt that the 'full English breakfast' was the equivalent of a small breakfast at Weatherspoons!

I appreciate the building is very old, but there are areas that need desperate maintenance: plaster coming off walls, shoddy paintwork and cobwebs literally everywhere. The windows in our room needed replacing or refurbishing as they rattle when traffic passes, and let every bit of street noise in. Also, the furniture has seen better days. It looks very shoddy and all needs replacing. I appreciate the building is listed, but sympathetic new sash windows, or secondary glazing could be fitted. The area visible from the first floor upstairs to the attic looks terrible and should be refurbished. The staff are more difficult to review. Some are officious, some are brusque and some are ‘pleasant’. Only one was particularly friendly, and most were a little distant or standoffish. Breakfast was ok, but service seemed chaotic, slow and the food was not particularly hot. There could be a bigger selection of buffet items and the cooked breakfast could be bigger. Fixing these issues could put a whole new slant on a stay here.

The location is excellent, right in the centre of town. The building itself is very historic and charming. The rooms and bathrooms are spacious and generally clean.
