Freshly cooked breakfast, great location for us and living above a pub. What’s not to like about all that? We even extended our stay another night it was so good.

One of our rooms had a low ceiling which was a bit of a problem for over 6 foot people. In fact, it meant the shower over the bath was more or less impossible for them to use but we loved the spa bath so no massive inconvenience overall.

The pub is lovely, in a beautiful village. The team were one of the most friendly and accommodating I've ever met, exceptional! The restaurant food was also excellent. Clean and comfortable. The room was spacious and everything we needed.

Unfortunately on the Friday several items were not available on the menu however, on Saturday the manager went out of her way to address this. The chef on Saturday made up for this slight issue as it was the best cooked sea bass I'd ever had!

It was very clean, the bed was comfortable and decorated to a high standard. It was in a convenient location for our needs.

We only learnt on arrival that the restaurant was closed two nights a week, we were very disappointed.

Beautiful little inn, very nicely decorated. Lovely room and fantastic location if you are wanting to visit York or Thirsk. Facilities were great and the room was very clean. Comfortable bed.

Not the warmest of welcomes, stared at by locals when we walked in, the man behind the bar not very polite or welcoming. Unfortunately, this made the beginning of our stay feel quite awkward. Also, upon leaving, there were no staff around to see us leave.

One of our rooms was not good. There was a problem with the plumbing which was very noisy and my family had a very disturbed sleep.

They only allowed one hour for breakfast from 8:30 9:30.

Very lovely room with tea and coffee making facilities. Nice hot shower.

The plumbing was making a loud noise, but when the taps were opened it seemed to stop.

Clean and tidy with a welcoming feel. Very comfy bed with coffee, tea and biscuits for free along with local bottled water. Staying in a room with shower and bath. Food was excellent along with helpful and very polite staff. Great stay

Being over 6 foot tall the shower in the bath was cramped and the beam was perfect for banging your head on. Left early on the morning (7.15am) and no one on site to hand your key over to.

Breakfast is full English only at a fixed price, so we chose not to bother. Options would be good.

Perfect! Spacious and clean room. Huge comfortable bed, great pillows and quality linen. Plenty of tea/coffee. Lovely clean bathroom, powerful shower and lovely spa bath. Breakfast was very tasty, cooked from scratch, great products. We will definitely be back!

Really friendly, helpful staff. The food was delicious, both breakfast and the evening meal. and the room was very clean and comfortable. The spa bath was amazing and really spacious. We were pleasantly surprised to find live entertainment was on on the night of our stay, I did worry that it may be noisy in our room but actually the act ended at 10pm and it was quiet by 10.30. We'd definitely go again.

Can't really fault the place.

Dinner not served on a Tuesday after 8pm, had to drive out after a long trip to find dinner Breakfast not served early enough paid for it but had to leave before it was served. had to drive the next morning and stop at a service station for breakfast not ideal for food on this stay

Lovely sparkling hotel. The room was lovely and we had a very comfy bed. We had 2 dogs, who enjoyed their stay, their gravy bones and as a special treat, shared a sausage at breakfast!
