Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

BelgiumWe wouldn't be able to write any points of improvement. Keep the lodge as it is, keep doing what you do with the same warmth and passion, it is simply perfect!
We enjoyed a 3-night stay at Old Hunters Lodge Whipsnade on a trip from Belgium. The location was ideal for our plans to visit Whipsnade Zoo and Bletchley Park. The location will also suit any lover of nature as it is located in the middle of the beautiful countryside with surprising hills, ridges and amazing views. The building itself partially dates back to 1540, of course adapted to all modern accommodation needs. The room is extremely quiet, even when the restaurant is full. As a lousy sleeper, I can really testify that I spent the best nights since long here. Also, there are no surrounding buildings, no busy traffic whatsoever (not even with the zoo nearby). Returning to the room after a day away felt like coming home. Also the staff and owners are very warm, kind and super welcoming. Nothing would be asking to much of them! We cannot stress that point enough, as it is the people who make this place just perfect! The (full English) breakfast was the very best we ever had, all sourced from local produce. Also the evening meals were delicious and prepared with the utmost care, so we ate 3 evenings at the lodge. They also have surprising veggie options on the menu! We will definitely return here, even make a detour, as we had a most wonderful stay! <3

United KingdomBecause of the size of the rooms, tea/coffee making (and chilled water) was provided on a table downstairs, which was a sensible compromise but means you need decent nightwear!
Perfect location for a Whipsnade visit (and for other local sights). A lovely old thatched traditional pub. Very friendly - the owner went out of his way to chat to us each day, making sure we had everything we needed - and all the staff were great. Excellent breakfast and decent evening meal. We enjoyed having the choice of outside tables and inside, with comfy sofas for coffee after our meal. Although the room was small, it had what we needed and the window opened well so it was cool and well-ventilated. Plenty of parking.

United KingdomI found nothing to dislike. I never go anywhere to pick faults but would bring anything that I felt that if anything needed to be improved, I would have brought it to their attention.
Warm and welcoming from the beginning. Everything explained regarding the facilities. Food was exceptional quality and locally sourced. The portions were more than adequate and could be adjusted to your liking. We were four cousins and our partners meeting up and were well accommodated, so we had the best experience you could wish for. All the staff were very helpful and cheerful and we wouldn't hesitate to go back again. A big 'Thank you to John, his wife, and his team for a very enjoyable stay.

Excellent location. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Owner came and introduced himself and was keen to know more about us and where we were from. Bed was extremely comfortable, room was clean and bathroom was good. Breakfast was fabulous and the main courses off the menu was top notch, highly recommended. United StatesThe room was comfortable and the setting is peaceful. Breakfast was good, as was dinner the night before. The garden outside the pub was great spot to relax and have dinner. Also, this is only about 45 minutes away from Heathrow, so made a good spot for a last night of the trip!
