Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomAcces to the property a bit tricky due to narrow road, still they provide a free parking slot next to. Clearing rubbish could be a bit easier for visitors, who now need to take it down the stairs to a designated area.
Amazing location with stunning views. Nice cottage with lots of facilities, cookware and pretty much everything you need for a relaxing getaway.

United KingdomThe issue of parking is a problem within Dartmouth. With the property sleeping 6, many like ourselves would have 2 cars. However the property only has space for 1 car. I would recommend the property offer a parking permit for Mayors Avenue.
The views were absolutely fantastic along with the ideal location to the town centre making everything easily accessible.

United KingdomDriving up the narrow road to get to it. I’m not sure if it’s mentioned in the details of the property but particularly large vehicles would struggle

United KingdomFor us the walk into town was tough due to the location and the amount of steps. (but of course this gave us the views).
Views were amazing from the house. House was well equipped.

United KingdomParking and just getting to the location is a bit hairy. That road needs to be one-way as it’s no fun reversing down very tight roads (there was scaffolding up in several places in the road, leaving very little room for error), up a hill and round a bend to locate a driveway to let other vehicles pass. The garage shown on Google maps is shared with 118 and you have to park very carefully-at an angle (unless you’re in Smart car or a Bubble car(!)- and despite not having an estate car, I needed family help with getting snuggled into the parking space and my rear wing still stood out slightly. Needless to say I abandoned any ideas of using the car whilst there as I’d come away to relax.
Quite frankly, the most amazing views. We were so lucky with the weather and did manage to sit outside to eat/drink …in October! Plenty of space in the house, plenty of resources if you wanted to cook too. Very quiet location. Just the occasional toot from the steam train at Kingswear and the car ferry at times. Very relaxing.

United KingdomSome of the decor was a bit tired. Some of the ceilings had boards on maybe from a leak! The back garden was a work in progress. There were no hooks to hang towels and clothes in the bathrooms.

United KingdomThere's a warning in the property description about the40 orso steps up to the front door - but no mention of the trek from the the town that you have to climb up to even reach the house! Not a place you feel like popping in and out of during the day - the wonderful view has seriously to be worked for. Not a problem if you're young and fit though. The parkinghowever, couldbe a problemfor most people; a difficualt to negotiate spot .only just off the very narrow road. Once we had parked we couldn't face having to do it again - the car stayed put. Maybe not altogether a bad thing. However these two issues, both location related put me off giving ' Out To Sea' absolute full marks. This is obviously subjective and might not bother people. Q
Property was very well kept and pleasant. Spotlessly clean ( as you would expect) and having a separate shower as well as bathroom was very convenient. The views were spectacular and the kitchen was very well equipped. Furniture and beds were comfortable and it was altogether a lovely place to relax.

United Kingdomtight entrance at the bottom of the house for the car, struggled to get our 7 seater car in the garage, however it would be easier for smaller cars to be managed. I would just give an warning for cars greater than 5-6ft to be cautious

United KingdomNothing, apart from I forgot there’d be steep steps up to the front door too, but we travelled light.
Amazing views (without the scaffolding from next door that we were still half expecting, work is done, and neighbours were also lovely). Helpful people managing property too. We booked at short notice, and I was worried about location up steps, but it wasn’t too bad at all, near to all the restaurants and shops, and well worth it for the quiet, and the views of course! Oh and parking was right at front of house too.

United KingdomThere were some personalised touches to the property which made it homely. Good curtains for quality sleep, mattress was reasonably comfortable but surprisingly there were cheap bed side lamps which if upgraded would raise the level of visual comfort. The lounge furniture also looked a bit tired ditto shower cubicle which would benefit from an upgrade in the future for cleanliness etc. We did still thoroughly enjoy our stay and think this property would be ideally suited for family with children. For us just on a pure personal level we prefer a bit more lux.
Location and elevated views were exceptional . With that came the steps down to town and back up, which was good for our fitness. Grateful for the parking space despite being tight but we knew this from a previous review so were prepared. House was comfortable and warm, practical and everything provided for a self sufficient holiday stay.

United KingdomWe had a few issues with the house, but the management team were quick to respond to emails. Generally, the house could probably do with some fine-tuning. As the house is situated high above the town, there are lots of steps/steep roads to climb. Roads are very narrow for vehicles too.
Although the house was situated high up looking over the river Dart, the location was perfect, with spectacular views. The house was a good size for the five of us. It has a front patio with table and chairs, which is fabulous to watch river traffic with a glass of wine!
