Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomMy only tiny comment is that the fan in the bedroom upstairs not great. But luckily there are a lot of windows that it wasn't needed too much. Other than that, this is a perfect place.
Was unable to get away for a long holiday this summer so decided on a quiet couple days of rest and relaxation to reset and recharge. The Owlet was perfect. Private, quiet, lovely views, short distance to many coastal walks and beaches and had all the comforts of home. Host was communicative and helpful. Directions, getting the keys and getting settled was easy and well described. It does seem to be newly refurbished, with plenty of outlets with USB charging bits which was really useful. Very comfortable and the deck in the back was super private and quiet and was a great place to catch some sun and read my book. Bed was comfy with lots of quality pillows. Bedroom was spacious. Everything you could need in the kitchen is there.

This was an excellent property! Lots of sun coming into it and I loved the privacy of the patio. Lots to do around, marshland, 10min away from herne bay. All in all great

United KingdomNothing, we really liked it. Our only point of improvement (although not a must) would be a heavy curtain to hang over the entrance door to stop both the draft (although it was blowing a gale) and dampen the noise from the road outside. Otherwise perfect!
What a gorgeous property, such an idyllic location backing straight onto the Kent countryside. Amenities were all to standard, providing a cosy cottage experience!

Owlet Lodge is in a fantastic location - close to Herne Bay, Whitstable and Canterbury yet surrounded by countryside. It has been thoughtfully designed and is very well equipped so we had everything we could possibly need. It was big enough for our family of 4 (children aged 9 and 12).

United KingdomThese are preferences only, not criticisms, and not things that can change - but I am being asked. My preference is for the bathroom to be with the bedroom. Reversing out into the road felt tricky
Location was lovely, quiet, easy to find. It was possible to see the Stars at night. Well set up and equipped. I was able to charge my car so that on a very busy day I did not have to think about that. The owner kept in touch by messages to let me know of an issue with the power which may have been caused by my car.

United KingdomNot sure how long before we arrived the deck was checked - rather a lot of bird poo. But this did not spoil our enjoyment. Otherwise, everything was great.
Owlet Lodge is in a very good location for visiting Thanet, Herne Bay & Whitstable. The lodge is well furnished, with a comfortable bed, and the kitchen is well supplied with crockery, glasses, cutlery, utensils and cleaning supplies. There was also tea, sugar and instant coffee, plus a large bottle of milk in the fridge. The private deck has a glorious country view over a wheatfield, and the main windows are not overlooked. The shower room is compact, but has everything you need, including some toiletries. There is an electric heated towel rail that can be used even when the heating is off. We would definitely rebook when visiting family & friends.

United KingdomShame there is no door to the bedroom upstairs. Especially if you want to watch TV downstairs and someone else sleeps up there. The front door that had swollen due to the rain and made it very difficult to open to go in and especially out. But the owners said they knew about it and are going to fix it.
It was a nice location close to Howletts reserve. Quiet and well maintained. Altogether very nice, lots of space to park and nice view to a field. Nice, comfy and private despite being on the owner’s land.
