Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

Excellent location in the city centre, very quiet despite being so central. Convenient parking available in a public car park at the rear of the property (which was expensive, but we factored the parking costs in when booking). Bed very comfy, great shower, good breakfast, Emma was a very accommodating host. It was just what we needed for a 2 night stay.

Absolutely nothing
Fantastic location within a couple of minutes walk from the cathedral. Easy to access on street parking and several nearby car parks to choose from. Exceptionally clean en-suite room, delightful host and an amazing breakfast.

The phone reception was intermittent.
The location couldn't be more central, and was very convenient. The breakfast was delicious. It really helped that we could check in early and leave our luggage after check out.

We very much enjoyed our short but sweet stay in this cosy, comfortable and well-equipped room in a fantastic location right in the town centre, an easy walk from Chichester Theatre where we were seeing a show. We had to leave very early the following morning but Emma kindly provided us with a very good breakfast before we left which was much appreciated.

Lovely room in a beautiful house. It is in the centre of Chichester, but perfectly quiet at night. Emma is a great hostess who served a delicious breakfast.

Parking would have been nice, but you can't have a central location like this one and expect parking. There was parking right behind the property

For a longer stay, I would want somewhere to sit other than the bed or one foldout chair
The location was ideal for the gallery, theatre and town. The bed was roomy enough to share with a friend. Sheets clean and comfortable bedding, a huge plus for me. Very nice design and thoughtful host. The room is too small to hang out in really- just a bed and a bathroom, but that is all we needed overnight. The host is so lovely and a great cook! We Breakfast was perfect. I will definitely book again!

The room needs to have some clothes storage as we stayed 2 nights and there was nowhere we could unpack our clothes. Similarly in the bathroom, some shelving above the sink for toiletries is needed.
The room was beautiful with quality furnishings. The location was right in the heart of the town, but on a quiet side street. Host Emma was extremely friendly, and helpful, and we had the most superb breakfast.

For us the mattress was too hard. We would have liked a thick topper. For me the shower could have been a bit hotter.
The location was brilliant, really easy to get to see everything. The room was beautifully decorated and lovely and quiet, the breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Communication was very good.

Having to leave!
Emma's hideaway is an absolute gem! Absolutely stunning! A beautiful room, in a gorgeous house, in a perfect location for the town centre - yet you wouldn't know it! Breakfast was the best I've ever had in a B & B - fabulous quality and heaps in quantity. Emma couldn't do enough to make our stay lovely, she made us feel so welcome.
