We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomNothing to really dislike but important information for others: There is no parking near the property, even for dropping off luggage it’s a good 25 metre, uneven walk. You then need to park on the main road about 100 metres away. This isn’t made clear on the listing but important to those with limited mobility. The layout is less suited for families with young children. The main bedroom is downstairs, the other bedroom, bathroom and living room is upstairs but the stairs are open (nothing to stop a child from falling from a height), there are handrails so potentially unsuitable for small children. The same could be said for the garden where a younger child could fall over the edge due to how the fence is designed. Not a criticism but again should be highlighted to others. If I’m being super critical the outside windows really needed cleaning.
Absolutely outstanding property. Super quiet (apart from the odd fast jet) Exceptionally well designed and modern. Everything you could need including an enclosed garden. Spotlessly clean inside.

United KingdomWhen we arrived, The kitchen had a few fly's in The 3 glass jars on the bench one had teabags in the other two had sugar in one with a spoon with sugar sticking to if Plus When we booked the kitchen was different we were expecting a tall fridge freezer so we were disappointed, As we where staying for two weeks, Plus had to clean two of the draws in down stairs bedroom as its was full of hairs before I put our clothes away & plus there is cob webs behind the draws. So we were just wondering if it gets check before the next Arrivals, As we had to wash all the utensils as they were all sticky & there was a sauce pan & whisk still had gravy stains on. But anyway we had a wonderful time Thanks.
The View Was Fantastic, The Patio Was Amazing Enjoyed watching the the Jets in the Sky, was very quite Loved it. We stayed upstairs in The Two single beds as its was handy in case you needed to go thru the night, The beds where amazing so comfy we had the best nights sleep ever plus the shower was great to.

United KingdomThe house we generally clean and nice. but the cleaners are neglecting things as the floors and stairs looked like they hadn't been cleaned in a very long time, a quick wipe proved this.. Dead bugs or house flies on the walls, ceiling and windows ledges. And huge lumps of dust/fluff behind or under things. This was not a massive negative but it let's down what is an amazing place. One thing to note is the size of the twin room, it is very small, barely fitting in 2 single beds. Would not recommend 2 adults sharing that. Parking is limited but a quick walk from the main road is easy.
Stunning location, comfy with amazing views and is super quiet. House is very nice and had everything you could need for a lovely trip away. There is a lovely little shop on the corner of the road, 1 min walk away.

United KingdomThe stairs are steep and a little precarious, but this is the nature and character of some old buildings. If booking, you need to be aware of the steep stairs.
The cottage was tucked away from the road with wonderful views across the valley.

United KingdomBooked this property as it is advertised with parking from the first view, but that is incorrect as we found out after booking by reading more reviews. We did request a refund within 1 hour of booking with sykes cottages, but they where very useless at responding or even dealing with our request of a refund and where straight forward saying no and not being sympathetic, or having any understanding that we had 3 motorbikes and it was a genuine mistake booking it as we have motorbikes that needed to be parked at the property for obvious reasons. All they stated was it says a description is on our website so we cant refund, but i did not book through there website so how am i to know what it states on there when booked via booking.com. So, for that reason, i would not book anything that is linked with Sykes cottages ever again!!! So, concluding my review after our stay, the parking is not good here as the house is tucked away from any road. We ended up parking our motorbikes a short walk away from the house and out of site which we were not happy about. I'd imagine if you had a car, you would have to park on the road even further away from the property as spaces are minimal and very limited. Welcome note that you scan on arrival states you are provided with a starter pack of tea, coffee and sugar, but the pots in the kitchen were empty, so that does not meet what is mentioned in here. Other than this, there's not much else i could fault with the property.
Lovely little house in beautiful location. With stunning views. The back garden is really nice, we liked what the owners have done here. This property would be really good on a week day stay with the jets flying out back i would imagine, but we did not get to see any of this, unfortunately.

United KingdomThe terrace was not so good on hot and sunny days, no shade at all. So you can't fully enjoy the sun. On top of that, the house becomes extremely hot as well. Access to house is difficult, even if you park your car to the nearest location, there is some lifting and shifting required. If you are not lucky to find a space (which I couldn't) you need to park your car to a distance.
Location and view were great. You can enjoy the private terrace as you wish.

United KingdomCould do with another lamp in the living room. Maybe a firepit in the garden! Sykes cottages need to up there game on the cleaning. was ok clean, but could easily be better! Not the owners fault! Sykes cottages manage the property!
Stunning views in a quiet village. Really like what the owners are doing with the place. Lots of good tech to use from the lights in the bedroom, to the radio with Bluetooth and the TV, which had Roku so you can log in to your own Netflix, Prime etc accounts! Would happily stay again!

United KingdomAbsolutely nothing except perhaps the single beds could do with a SLIGHTLY more comfortable mattress but this by no means detracted from such a fabulous place to stay. The biggest downside was only staying for 2 nights!!
The whole property was immaculately kept and the renovations done to a very high standard. Clean throughout and very well furnished with the kitchen having all the necessary pots/pans etc along with kettle, oven, microwave, fridge etc.. also sone bits and pieces that had been left such as salt, pepper, tea bags!! The local pub which is less than 2 minutes walk is very friendly and good basic pub food, but also very close to the local town which had many more pubs and cafes to choose from. HIGHLY recommend staying here
