    Location was good

Quite outdated, broken elements in the room I.e cupboard knobs, not that clean, Breakfast eggs were burnt and everyone sss complaining the food was too salty, for the price we paid we would’ve expected a little more cleanliness and proper food

The setting was charming and the style and decor of the property really attractive. Breakfast was ok.

We couldn’t get the tv to work in one of our rooms. There are no staff on site so we phoned the number and the lady ( presumably the owner) said she couldn’t come then 5ish butshe’d get her husband to come at 8pm - he never showed up. The bin in one of our rooms was full of rubbish including empty cider cans which wasn’t a great look. One of the bedside lights didn’t work. It just felt a bit uncared for and the hosts didn’t seem to feel it was their job to respond.

Location, bed was comfortable and room was quiet.

When we arrived we were told that they had lost our room key. They gave us the master but once in the room we realised that it did not have a key for the door on to the common veranda and we had no way to lock this door. We contacted the staff (it’s all remote management) and were told they don’t have a spare and that we shouldnt worry as it very safe. While I get the risk is low, with our passports, computers etc, this to us was an unacceptable risk but we were given no different options. Next day we left the key in the designated place but upon our return our room hadn’t been serviced. Given the price we paid we felt that this was a real failure.

Quiet location, nicely decorated interior and rooms.

No reception but tbh that wasn’t a big issue and the check-in procedure was ok.

    Stunning location & views

No member of staff at property upon arrival, seemed to be run on a shoestring, breakfast was happy shopper food. Will not be returning as very disappointed overall.

    Property response:

I’m very sorry to hear you write this. This is a self check in bed and breakfast as is written on the description before you book. Sorry expectations were not managed over this. We have completely gutted and refurbished Plas Dolguog and can assure future guests it is run with a lot of love and investment. All our food is sourced locally and great care was taken over the creation of our breakfast menu by our very talented chef Altaea. Her cockles, leaks and lavabread is a Welsh favourite. Hopefully future guests can see that this review stands out alone amoungst many positive reviews.

Beautifully restored building and rooms with lots of character and charm. The owners were really friendly and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was excellent too.

A little remote if you want to walk to a pub or restaurant for the evening but we also enjoyed this element too - so quiet and peaceful

Comfortable bed. Good location, nice views of hills. Had the deli platter for supper 2 nights and it was nice, breakfast was quite nice. Bathroom was clean. Batteries were flat in both TV remotes but staff did replace them quickly when asked. Lots of parking.

Tried several times the day before arrival to contact owners with a question, through Booking.com message, phone call, left voicemail but no response to any of these. Staff were a bit elusive in general, a young girl serving breakfast was the main person visible (self-service check-in so you don't see anyone on arrival). Bedroom was a bit dusty - bedside table was covered in dust when I placed items on it. There was a folder with leaflets for local attractions but they were all 2 or 3 years out of date - maybe they need to get some newer ones? Feels like the owners just need to give the place a bit of a refresh and a bit more attention to detail.

It was lovely, clean and the scenery was stunning. The staff were lovely and the service was outstanding

It’s not a complaint, it’s just that because of the age of the property there was quite a difference in the floor level from one side of the room from the other. I got out of bed and felt like I was running downhill. That said, I’ve just spent a week levelling floors in my own house and that was only two inches and took me a week to get right! It’s not a complaint, it’s more of a heads-up to future guests in case they have a thing for using roller skates as slippers.

Location and rooms with balconies to watch the sunset. The music room with an 'honesty bar' was a nice touch. Breakfast was excellent. You are pretty much left to yourself as it is self check in but everyone I did meet were very pleasant and helpful.

Beautiful house, extremely well converted to B&B, with welcoming staff, delicious generous breakfast, great shower, nice toiletries, a lovely balcony and decent sized room with gorgeous view. Location is superb. Chilled 20 minute walk into town through achingly pretty countryside and another walk we didn’t do but looked gorgeous by the river.

The mattress was too soft and springy for my personal taste and needs but otherwise loved it all. A joy to discover.
