How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewbreakfasts were very good. the location was great as it was on its own and surrounded by fields, so very quiet. we were lucky as we were treated to a tour of the woodlands at the back which are operating as a wildlife area.

Verified reviewLarge bedroomed B&B set in acres of quiet countryside. Excellent spacious bedroom with all amenities. Secure parking. Plenty of hot and cold choices for breakfast. Eileen and David were perfect hosts. It has acres of its own fields which you are able to walk through. We stayed 4 nights and would gladly go again if we are ever in the area.

On our previous year, host lady welcomed us, our stay was good that’s why we wanted to stay there again. However, we weren't happy with host David's imperious attitude towards us on our arrival this time. I had head ache whole night owing to his attitude.

I am sorry that you had problems with your arrival information, but it is our policy when we greet guests to advise them about things related to their stay that will make the whole event more enjoyable. That is why I told you about the electric gate code, the front door code and the location of the breakfast area before I showed you to your rooms. As always, I did invite you to ask any quesytions about matters you might be unsure of, but you said nothing at the time or even later during your stay. I think there may have been a language issue as you are all Turkish and the younger members of the family had to act as interpreters. Such a shame because here at Pointers we do try very hard indeed to provide a comfortable and memorable experience. Best wishes, David.

Verified reviewWe had stayed here in 2021 so we knew the property. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The owners are very helpful. Full English breakfast is very good and sets you up for the day. The house is in 15 acres of land which the owners have developed over the years into an award-winning conservation "park". You can walk around at least some of it, but we have yet to do that as we have only stayed in winter!

Verified reviewA great overnight stay in a really exceptional bedroom. Delicious breakfast with smoked trout that had been caught by our host.
The place and the welcome we received couldn't have been better. Unfortunately, good evening meals tend to be a few miles drive away. Ok in summer but tricky in winter on narrow fen roads.

Verified reviewThe location was perfect for my business meeting, and the cleanliness of the room was to a very good standard. The premises was in beautiful surroundings.
My only frustration was that the owners had several dogs that were given access to the garden at which point the residents were not permitted to use the grounds. You can request for the owners to bring the dogs in but this became awkward, if you decided to to use the grounds a few time during the evening. Its a real pity as the grounds looked really nice, but not easily accessible.
Simhare, I do think you are being a little unkind. I give a personal briefing to all our guests on their arrival, and I do mention our friendly dogs but reassure you that they do not roam freely all through the house. They only have access to our rooms and the garden (it is their home also and they should have some freedom too) but always point out that if you wish to use our garden there is no problem - just let me know and I will put them away. In fact, on extremely hot days, we often serve guests breakfasts on the garden terrace. Our garden is just one half of an acre, but our extended grounds amount to a total of 15 acres, all of which is available for guests to always use. It is such a shame that your harsh scores will seriously affect our otherwise high rating. Nevertheless, best wishes, David.
