Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

The room I stayed in was lovely it was a good size, very clean and the bed was really comfortable. The bathroom facilities were very good and also very clean. The property is within walking distance of the city centre and I would recommend it to other travellers.

The room was very hot and the fan didn’t do too much, other than that there’s not much to complain about.
About 10 minutes walking distance from everything, we found it convenient and a nice quiet area. The room had floor space and a full length mirror. Shared bathroom was decently equiped with shower gel and shampoo.

The room was large, beautiful, and comfortable (especially given the affordable price). The host was friendly and considerate. I'm happy to have found this place --- what a hidden travel gem in Cardiff! I'm particularly grateful there was a fan, since I have trouble sleeping without white noise.

If you don't mind hearing cars going to work in the morning your going to be just fine. Other than that great stay, very clean and tidy and bed was super comfy..
I liked the fact that the family that live there were more than happy to make you feel at home, anything that you needed they were on standby to help. Very nice hosts..

The bathroom was shared so I understand it was a bit more dirty, but anyway still good! Apart from that, I missed having a bin in the room.
The room was pretty, comfortable, even luxurious. It has a huge TV with Netflix, Amazon Prime and YouTube. People at the house were amazing and kind. Everyone helped us. They have cats, I think it is important for allergic people. But I love them and they were so cute and they didn't bother at anytime, I could play with them.

Bathroom experience felt rooming-house like (shared by I think 4 rooms), and a bit grubby. Bathroom was a distance from room, up a set of carpeted stairs. Also noisy on the other side of our bedroom wall -- staff I think. Very cheery, but went on for awhile after we had our lights out.
Host greeted us very warmly which was soothing after a day of travel disruptions and hassles because of rail labour issues. Room was spacious and clean.

It was really homely, lovely big comfortable couch, really comfortable bed, lovely little twinkly lights made it feel so cozy. Fire TV. The system for gaining access was great. Just collect your key from the key port.

The room is very close to a busy and very noisy road and the windows are small so it got very hot. There was tea, but no coffee. And no milk. A very basic room ok to crash for one night if you’re a heavy sleeper. But we didn’t sleep much at all.
It is certainly cheap and was very clean. Fairly close to the city centre, £7-8 in an Uber. Parking on the street was free.

At least 5 rooms sharing a bathroom. The neighbourhood is awful. Bags of rubbish in the streets everywhere.

I loved everything about it, nothing negative to say.
What an excellent homestay. We stayed in the private double room. Ground floor front. Double bed and comfy three seater sofa. Really clean, crispy white sheets, comfy matress and fat pillows, it is way bigger than other rooms I stayed in, great for 2 people. Wide screen large tv with Netflix YouTube etc. Very strong WiFi, didn't buffer once and allowed use of the kitchen. It has on street parking and there are plenty of restaurants shops and places to go out within walking distance. The host is a really professional, interesting and a very polite woman. We loved it so much we booked an extra 4 days. Thank-you for being so kind and understanding to me and my friend. I will stay here again on my next visit to Cardiff. Anyone who has not been to Cardiff should really go, so many interesting sights to see, and the people are super friendly. Highly recommended. Loved it. *****
