The location was excellent, Staff were friendly but upon checking in were a bit confused with our room. There was a surprise party on later on that night & it was very noisy, Lots of arguing outside with people from the party which went on long after closing. The room was comfortable but you could hear the toilet next door being flushed & the same from upstairs.

Spending £108 for a night’s stay only to have the room shake from loud music is unacceptable. Informing guests on the day of arrival offers little recourse, particularly when the booking is non-refundable.

The hotel is located centrally which is great

Shocking. Charged over £100 per evening Friday and Saturday only to be kept awake until 01:30am with music blasting from the bar downstairs. This wasn’t just load the whole room was vibrating. I understand a bar has to attract people of a weekend but if this is the case at least work people or don’t charge top rate when people can’t even sleep. God forbid a family with young children ever stay here.

There's only street parking, you can't use the carpark next to the hotel and I had to move my car

The location is really good with Carron's chip shop and ice cream shop across the road. The bar and lounge in the hotel is also quite good and there was live music when I visited. I also had an issue with the room on arrival, but it was sorted immediately when I informed the staff

I booked this hotel for my partner who was attending his sister's funeral. He arrived at 22.30 to find the hotel locked up. There was a sign on the door that the staff are on site 24 hrs with a contact phone number. He called the number only to discover that the member of staff he spoke to was NOT on site and told him he would take 40 min to get there. It actually took him 1 hour to get there and, once they were in the hotel, he could not unlock the room my partner had been allocated so he was moved to another room. That room was well below the expected standard: 1. The hot sink tap was loose and no hot water 2. The shaving light over the mirror didn't work 3. The toilet seat had to be held up as it kept falling down 4. The bathroom shelf was an untreated piece of the MDF 5. The wooden window frame was rotted and falling apart 6. The bedsite lamps could not be used because the cables were not long enough to reach the sockets 7.Kettle, tea, coffee and sugar were supplied but no milk cartons 8. The sink was so small it was impossible to fill the kettle from the tap 9. After the adjoining bar is closed, there is no staff on site.

The location was good, in the town centre, the bed was very comfortable and the shower facility was good.

As per earlier reviews, the property is in need of major renovations. However, I was told by some locals that it has not long changed hands, so watch this space...

Very friendly people. Having read earlier reviews, I was aware that this property has had mixed reactions in the past, so I was prepared. For me, the location trumped everything else.

No reception. Had to go into public bar to find staff, sign in and get keys. Door was tricky to lock and open. Door knob very slack and felt unsecure. Ensuite was tiny- built into a small space - no room to move - very dated. Single bed against wall so kept bumping my arm. Mattress too soft. TV in room but told it doesnt work ( why leave it there?)

It was on the main street so easy to find and parking on the street was easy. Mid week stay so quiet. Shown to room with offer of my bag beong carried

Everything but especially the constant noise from the bar .vibrating on bedroom floor it was horrendous

Noise from the bar was horrendous ,went on till 1 am ,even the bedroom floor was vibrating we had to ask for a kettle. No remote for tv asked for help but couldn't get tv on on ,which may have crowded out noise from downstairs .we would have left after first night but couldn't get booked in elsewhere .we really should be offered some compensation for our spoiled holiday ,over priced £240 without breakfast only £180 in the Belvedere with full breakfast where our friends were. They all felt very sorry for us

The music from the pub was loud enough to reach us on the second floor and it carried on WELL into the night, making it a bit hard to sleep.

Wonderful facilities and extremely helpful staff. They were very accommodating of our little ones.
