Nice new rooms and great staff

Beautiful property and bar

Nicely decorated

No aircon in room & quilt too thick for summer. No safe in room. Room quite dark. Particularly need brighter lights in bathroom for purposes of putting on makeup/contact lenses. Bottom sheet on bed not large enough to tuck under mattress so had to smooth out every time I turned over in the night! Veggie Full English came with black pudding!!😳

We could not relax as the walls were so thin without any sound proofing we heard everything on the floor from people snoring to flushing the loo and other sounds There was a humming electrical noise as well When the handrier was used a floor below we heard it

Good value

Staff lovely, especially the breakfast staff working really hard on a busy bank holiday Monday. Room was a good size, light & airy, clean. Location was lovely, in the countryside, lots of national trust houses nearby, 20 mins drive to Guildford.

Didn’t dislike anything about the hotel, perhaps a bin in the bathroom, a smart tv, but that’s nit-picking.

The hotel is well presented, well equipped rooms, great staff. I would recommend evening meal, restaurant and bar offers a varied menu selection.

WiFi a little weak

Convenient. Easy to find. Nice looking building. Good parking and easy drop off point at front of hotel. Comfortable bed in large room. Relatively quiet.

The room was a little dated and the shower was old. I imagine this part of the hotel (standard room) is due for refurbishment as other parts of the hotel had been refurbished recently. There was no handrail or non-slip mat in the shower (although one was provided on request) with quite a large step down to exit the shower cubicle. The reception was not staffed at all times. On a two night stay the room was not cleaned/made up after the first night and the tea/coffee/milk was not replaced for the second day.

We arrived at Thatcher's hotel just under an hour before our check-in time, we only had to wait around 10 mins before we were able to go up to our room. We were on a day trip into London and I didn't want to leave all our luggage in my car all day. The 1st class service we received when we arrived didn't stop there. We arrived back at our hotel quite late in the evening, but as I requested a room with a bath at the time of booking,  I couldn't wait to get a warm soak after a lot of driving so it was first thing on the agenda when we got to our room. All was going well until we'd finished running the bath, and  then this awful loud noise started in the walls and it wouldn't stop. My partner popped downstairs to reception, it must have been around 10.30-11pm at this point. My partner was told by Jeff Staniforth, who was on duty that evening, that there was only one other room available with a bath, the bad news being we had to pack up and change rooms and that its up another flight of stairs, the good news is that is has a bath (a very nice bath) and that the new room is an upgrade at no extra cost. We arrived at the replacement room and all we can say is WOW! Jeff was not joking about the upgrade, nor the bath, it was a very large hot tub style bath, we've never seen anything like it 😍 it wasn't until we checked online, that we realised we had one of only 2 of these suites available in the whole hotel 😲 My partner and I would like to thank all the staff at Thatcher's Bar & Hotel, especially Jeff Staniforth who was able to resolve our problem, you really did go above and beyond I'm sure we will be back in the very near future Thanks again!

I think the only problem I can think of was there there was only Decaf Teabags available in our room, I do love my tea but needs to be non-decaf, other than that, no problems at all

Location was good, public areas like the reception, bar and restaurant were very nice. Room was a good size and beds were comfortable. All on all good value for money

We stayed in one of the unrefurbished rooms which was ok but it was quite tired and needed updating. Also bathroom wasn't as clean as you would like. There were long hairs on the floor and a partially used soap bar in the shower.
